ANAHEIM, Calif. – PBR veteran Sean Willingham (Summerville, Georgia) leads the event aggregate of the Anaheim Invitational, the sixth event on the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series, after turning in an 87.5-point ride on Hair Trigger (Humpz n Horns/KMH) in Round 2 on Saturday night in front nearly 11,000 fans at Honda Center.
Willingham’s effort was also the high-marked ride of the night, giving him his first round win of the 2015 season and 100 points toward the world standings.
“It’s been a long time,” Willingham said. “I feel I’ve been riding good, but the effort is not showing up in the points. I’ve just got to bear down.”
Willingham is also currently first in the event standings with 110 event points after earning 10 points on Friday night for finishing tied for fifth in Round 1 with an 86-point ride on Savage Moves.
Current world standings leader Matt Triplett (Kalispell, Montana) posted an 87-point ride on El Capitan (Humpz and Horns/ Sis & Stan Bucking Bulls) to tie for second in the round with Tanner Byrne (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan), who matched his score on Cash Ya Out (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Cymbilak Cattle Co.). Both men received 55 world standings points and are tied for fourth place in the event standings.
2008 World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Brazil) finished Round 2 in fourth place after an 86.5-point ride on Ranga (Jeff Robinson/B&M Bucking Bulls) and Stetson Lawrence (Trenton, North Dakota) rounded out the Top 5 with 86.25 points on Rough’em up Tuck (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls). They received 40 and 30 points, respectively, toward the world standings.
Round 3 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round will take place Sunday at the Honda Center at 2:50 p.m. to determine the event winner. It will air in real-time on PBR LIVE at www.pbr.com/live.
