Wrapping Up Williston

The Upper Missouri Valley Fair welcomed a two night CBR Horizon promoted by Shane Gunderson this week and the boys and bulls showed up to entertain. The stands of North Dakota’s growing town of Williston were packed as they watched bucking bulls rule over the cowboys each night. With a little luck, the number one contenders in the CBR World Standings and Horizon Series maintain their leads as we near the end of our season.

On night one in the first round Gannon Ivy drew Mosbrucker bull Big Time earning the lead score of 84.5. Cody Jesus of Sawmill, AZ trailed by half a point on Rewind. North Dakota native Zach Peterson of Velva tried his hand at Mosbrucker’s Bad Company falling just short of pay dirt with an 82 point ride. Tying up the fourth spot on the leaderboard was Adriano Long and Dylan Howland with 79.5 points.

With only three qualified rides in the second round, Clayton Appelhans of Kansas finished the round with the high score of the night of 86.5 points on Bailey’s Cougar.

Night one crowned new comer Adriano Long, the only cowboy to cover both of his bulls. Bailey Pro Rodeo’s Plow Boy and Lunch Box Louie was no match for Long earning a total of 162 points for the night.

Friday night’s performance mirrored night one with an additional qualified ride. CBR World Standings leader Cody Jesus earned a re-ride in the first round, resulting in two scores for the night totaling 145.5 points.

Cole Skender and Gannon Ivy tied up the first round with 82.5 points, followed by CBR Horizon Series leader Braden Richardson with a 73 on Ruthless Pistol of Mosbruckers.

The only bull in the second round not owned by Bailey Pro Rodeo to produce a qualified ride was Stateline’s Sharp Shooter ridden by Cody Jesus, with a 79.5 mark, tying with Edgewood, NM Hunter Salter on Bailey’s High Roller. Cowboy Trey Holston, vying to regain his number one spot on the Road to Cheyenne topped the leader board of the second round with 84.5 points on Secret Agent.

Once again, Clayton Appelhans returned to the second round as he did the first night of Williston, earning third place overall by covering Twisted Tiger of Bailey Pro Rodeo.

Cody Jesus took the win of the night with a check of $2,460.58 and remains at the top of the CBR World Standings.

Tensions are high as CBR comes to the end of the 2018 season with two remaining events left to earn points towards the CBR Road to Cheyenne as well as the CBR Horizon series. A two night performance in Sidney Montana will be held June 29 and 30 at the Richland County Fairgrounds for the Eastern Montana Bull Blowout. In July, Giddings TX will host the Lee County Sheriff’s Posse Fury on the 7th, which also will be the final Bull Team Challenge event prior to Cheyenne.
