Young Rodeo Stars of 4-H Ready to Ride at Stampede Park

Calgary – More than 80 of the best young cowgirls and cowboys in 4-H will be taking part in the Calgary Stampede 4-H Rodeo this weekend, September 29-30, 2018. This unique event is celebrating more than 20 years of youth development with a new format in 2018. A full day of educational rodeo clinics will be offered on Saturday, followed by action-packed competition in the Nutrien Western Event Centre.

A number of Calgary Stampede and Canadian champions will be among the industry leaders sharing their knowledge of rodeo and animal handling techniques in fun, hands-on sessions throughout the day Saturday. The public then has two opportunities to see the talented young 4-H members, aged nine to 20, put their new skills to the test. Catch the thrills and spills of Cow Riding on Saturday evening starting at 7 p.m. The rodeo action gets underway again Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with the next generation of stars competing in many traditional events such as barrel racing, goat tying and pole bending.
