PBR and CBS Sports Set Television Schedule for 2020 Season

By: Andrew Giangola

PUEBLO, Colo. – PBR and CBS Sports today announced the television schedule for the 2020 season. Following the announcement of a 10-year extension earlier this year as the television home of PBR (Professional Bull Riders), the network will increase its coverage of the sport for the upcoming year.

In 2020, CBS Sports will air more than 50 PBR telecasts, including more broadcast windows added to the schedule. The CBS Television Network will broadcast 17 events from the PBR Unleash The Beast tour – the most ever for the network – while CBS Sports Network’s robust schedule includes 14 live events from places like Sacramento, Calif.; Billings, Mont.; Cheyenne, Wyo.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Las Vegas, Nev. for the PBR World Finals.

The televised action of the 2020 season gets started from historic Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday, Jan. 4 (12:00 PM, ET) on CBS, and follows the league all the way through the 27th PBR World Finals in Las Vegas in November, live all week on CBS Sports Network.

As previously announced, for the first time, the PBR Global Cup, a ground-breaking five-nation international team competition, will be carried by CBS Sports. Known as the “Olympics of Bull Riding,” Global Cup USA returns to the famed AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 16 on CBS at 12:00 PM, ET and on CBS Sports Network at 8:30 PM, ET.

Additionally, CBS Sports will increase their commitment to western sports, carrying four WCRA (World Champions Rodeo Alliance) rodeos in 2020. The first one airs on Saturday, Feb. 29 (12:30 PM, ET) from Kansas City, Mo. and is part of two Western Sports Weekends featuring both a PBR and WRCA event on CBS Sports. The other WRCA broadcasts will air on Sunday, May 17 (12:30 PM, ET) from Guthrie, Okla., Sunday, July 26 (1:00 PM, ET) from the Days of 47 Rodeo in Salt Lake City, Utah and Saturday, Aug. 29 (Time TBD) from Tacoma, Wash.

Award-winning play-by-play announcer of the PBR, Craig Hummer, will be joined for analysis and insights throughout the season by the likes of PBR legends Justin McBride, Ty Murray, and JW Hart, and commentary will come straight from the dirt as Kate Harrison and Justin Felisko bring up-to-the-second updates from around the arena.

Last season, more than 19 million unique viewers tuned in to the CBS Television Network for broadcasts of America’s Original Extreme Sport.
