It’s All in the Genes: Etbauer takes First at Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo

The Etbauer name is an institution in pro rodeo bronc riding and the latest entry has a mind, and the talent, to carve his own piece of saddle leather history. Shade Etbauer of Goodwell, Oklahoma won the Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo in Colorado last weekend matching with Summit Pro Rodeo’s ‘Fringe Benefit’ (offspring of the legendary Lunatic Fringe) for 81.5 points. Shade’s father Robert owns two bronc riding gold buckles while his uncle Billy won the world five times. Robert is rodeo coach at Panhandle State University in Oklahoma and the Etbauers’ were “Honored Family” at Panhandle last year. Their men’s rodeo team will enter competition at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper this weekend as winner of the 2017-18 campaign in the Central Plains Region. Shade won PRCA/Resistol “Rookie of the Year” honors in bronc riding last year and starts the 2018 summer on a high note at Elizabeth. Courtesy of Wrangler Network contributor Charlie Coon.
