Arizona Artist Bill Nebeker Returns to Prix de West® Invitational Art Exhibition & Sale
Nebeker joins nearly 90 of the finest contemporary artists participating in the
world’s premier Western art show and sale.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Bill Nebeker, a Western sculptor from Prescott, Arizona, will participate in his 17th Prix de West® Invitational Art Exhibition & Sale. The show will be on exhibit August 1 – September 13, 2020, with the sale taking place September 12 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Nebeker believes his hobbies — which include horseback riding, roping, guitar picking and hunting — provide him with the inspiration for the stories he tells in his sculptures. He became interested in sculpting in 1964 when he attended an art show by George Phippen, the first Cowboy Artists of America (CAA) president. Fourteen years later, Nebeker became a CAA member himself. In 2016, he won the Express Ranches Great American Cowboy Award at the Prix de West® for Cold Mornin’ Cow Camp.
The 48th annual Prix de West® Invitational Art Exhibition & Sale, the most anticipated event in the Western art world, offers more than 270 one-of-a-kind paintings and sculpture by the finest contemporary Western artists in the nation and features works ranging from historical subject matter that reflects the early days of the West to more contemporary and impressionistic pieces. Landscapes, wildlife art and illustrative scenes are showcased in this world-class exhibition.
The sale portion of Prix de West® will have a new look for 2020, with a proxy-bid-only virtual sale on Sept. 12. Proxy bids for the fixed-bid sale will be accepted as soon as the exhibition opens August 1 until the night of the sale Sept. 12, when the typical in-person sale will be replaced with an exciting virtual experience. Traditionally the highlight of the Museum’s summer exhibition schedule, the show was postponed this year until the fall in support of the nationwide effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.
