Bucks For The Brave

This past Veteran’s Day weekend, Nutrena Record Rack completed the 4th annual “Bucks For the Brave” to recognize and honor American heroes. Nominated by their peers, Veterans from each service branch, retired law enforcement and firefighters were selected to receive an all expenses paid hunting trip to the Thumbtack Ranch in Batesville, Texas. This year’s heroes had a combined total of 71 years serving our country, 63 years in law enforcement and 20 years in the NYFD. Two were purple heart recipients, one bronze star recipient, one a retired Texas State Trooper and one a retired NYFD veteran who worked the WTC disaster.

To get the weekend started right, the heroes were treated to a “Cowboy Makeover” at the Cavender’s Boot Store in Windcrest, Texas. The men received Wrangler jeans & shirts, Resistol hats, and boots and belts to complete their outfits. After the makeover, the heroes were treated to cowboy limos for the 2-hour drive to the Thumbtack Ranch.
