PRCA Standings Shuffle: 10 Move up in Top 15

The Sunshine State offered some golden opportunities for ProRodeo athletes to climb the ranks March 9-15.

The 92nd Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo presented $106,139 in prize money. Just 65 miles down the road was the Okeechobee Florida Cowtown Rodeo, while the Florida Gateway Pro Rodeo was just a few hours north in Lake City.

A collective $323,975 was up for grabs during the eight ProRodeo competitions held across the U.S. last week, and 10 cowboys cashed in and saw their positions improve within the Top 15 of the 2020 PRCA | RAM World Standings.

Cowboys know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Every dollar counts, and making the Top 15 in the world standings early establishes a solid base and builds a cowboy’s confidence as the season picks up pace.

Nobody knows this better than bareback rider Tilden Hooper, the ProRodeo athlete to win the most money last week. Hooper picked up $4,301 thanks to his 87.5-point ride on Frontier Rodeo’s Times Up to win the Arcadia rodeo March 15. Though he didn’t climb in the world standings, Hooper did close in on sixth place, narrowing the gap to a mere $160.

Other cowboys who improved their positions within the Top 15 last week included the following:

Six Spots

Thomas Smith moved from 17th to 11th in steer roping.

Three Spots

Shay Good moved from eighth to fifth in steer roping.

Two Spots

Leighton Berry moved from fifth to third in bareback riding.
Chase Brooks moved from 17th to 15th in saddle bronc riding.
