PRCA Standings Shuffle: 37 Move Up in Top 15

The Super Series Finish in Fort Worth, Texas, helped ProRodeo athletes improve their positions within the Top 15 of their respective events in the PRCA | RAM World Standings.

Money earned from Houston also was added to the world standings as the Super Series Finish concluded, bumping up 37 cowboys among the Top 15.

Cowboys know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Every dollar counts, and making the Top 15 in the world standings early establishes a solid base and builds a cowboy’s confidence as the summer run approaches.

Nobody knows this better than rookie bull rider Parker McCown, who jumped seven spots, from 12th to fifth, by picking up $9,750 from Houston.

McCown won the second round of Bracket 2 with a 90-point ride on Cervi Rodeo’s Rumpshaker and was the only cowboy to cover his bull in round 3 with 80 points on Cervi Rodeo’s Stolen Thunder.

The 20-year-old cowboy from Montgomery, Texas, has already won $40,259 for the 2020 season and is No. 2 in the 2020 PRCA | Resistol Rookie Standings as of June 3.

Cowboys on the bubble for a spot in the Top 15 can find themselves a few dollars short of qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. There are plenty of opportunities to win big between now and the end of the 2020 season, but it’s still noteworthy to see who is on the cusp of breaking into the Top 15.

Lane Ivy moved from 17th in team roping heading and is $1,067 away from breaking into the Top 15.
Ryan Motes moved from 21st in team roping heeling and is $1,292 away from breaking into the Top 15.

More changes are likely in the world standings as the first week of June features seven ProRodeo competitions.
