Ticketsmarter Morning Line – Duluth Round 2

By: Slade Long

Alex Cerqueira on 446B Jaywalker:

Cerqueira looked sharp last night with an 84.5-point ride in the first round. He has a bull here who is 22-2 in his career, but as it happens, he’s one of the two. He was 88 on this bull just a couple of weeks ago in Charleston, South Carolina. Cerqueira has a great chance to make a jump up the standings with big score here.

Keyshawn Whitehorse on 6X3 Hammered Down:

Jess Lockwood was 88 on this bull at the World Finals. It’s the only time the bull has been ridden in seven career outs, but it’s also the only time he’s faced a high-level rider. What makes this interesting is that the bull went to the right – away from Lockwood’s hand, but that will be into Keyshawn’s hand. Hammered Down looked like a great draw with Lockwood. He had good action, good kick, and near perfect timing. Whitehorse got a score in the first round, and could easily place deep in Round 2.

Aaron Kleier on 309 Millennium’s Buck

Kleier was 86.25 last night to place fourth in the round. He has a tougher bull here. Millennium’s Buck is a good draw, and he produces good scores, but mostly for left-handed riders. He likes the right, and he’s pretty salty. If he goes to the right here, Kleier has to ride mistake-free to get by him.

Lucas Divino on 139 The Punisher:

Divino was 88.5 points on this bull a couple of weeks ago in Kansas City, winning the second round en route to winning the event. Divino bucked off in Round 1 here, so he must get the job done if he hopes to get anything out of the weekend.

Silvano Alves on 404B Jack Wilson:

Jack Wilson is 9-1 against right-handed riders, and for good reason: his style is the perfect foil for any righty. Jose Vitor Leme won a round on him in Tulsa last year, and if he has the same trip here, Alves has almost no chance of getting a score. This bull doesn’t have a lot of power, but he scoots forward and bucks in a drifting square to the left, never doing much to help the rider. This type of bull is extremely difficult to ride away from your hand, but Eduardo Aparecido did get him ridden last fall.

Mauricio Moreira on 391 Slingin’ Tears:

Moreira made his first real mark at the UTB level last night. He won the round with an outstanding ride on a bull went both ways, and he has a great opportunity to double up here. Slingin’ Tears has helped Jose Vitor Leme win a round and place in another at one event, and Dener Barbosa has also placed in a round on him. He’s not the easiest bull, but he’s a good draw for a left-handed rider, and Moreira may be able to win a second consecutive round.

Andrew Alvidrez on 54 Coy Dog:

Alvidrez had a good draw last night and didn’t convert that into a score. This is another good one. Coy Dog should be into his hand, and he’s rideable. Riders trying to stay on tour can’t afford to lose to a bull that is in any way a good fit for them.

Daylon Swearingen on 45 Joker:

The last three times this bull was ridden it was for 87 or more points. Fabiano Vieira was 88.5 on him in Memphis just a few weeks ago. Joker can be tricky, but he can also spin fast and flashy into Swearingen’s hand.

Ramon de Lima on 222X High Stakes:

No score for Lima in Round 1, but he may make a comeback here. This is a rodeo bull we haven’t seen on tour before, but he has a good resume. He threw Sage Kimzey at the NFR in December, but he has given up at least a couple of qualified rides in the past. Lima has a chance here in a must-ride situation.

Claudio Montanha Jr. on 43 Roulette:

This is another rodeo bull who has no PBR outs on record, but he’s a solid draw. Guys at this level should get along with him. Brennon Eldred was 89 on him at a Utah rodeo last summer, and he went to the left. Montanha will probably like this bull, but he will have to get it done going away from his hand.

Cole Melancon on 313 Zorro:

This is the strongest bull in the round by difficulty, but Melancon has a chance. Zorro can get into a spin easy, and then turn on the speed. If Melancon can keep up, this should be a good score. Colten Jesse was 87.5 on Zorro in St. Louis this season, but overall this bull is 38-2 and 25-1 against right-handed riders.
