Video: George Strait Honors Wounded Veteran at 2014 GSTRC

The George Strait Team Roping Classic is touted as one of the hottest events in rodeo due to its famous host and big level prizes, but in honor of Military Appreciate Month we’re sharing with you a special moment from the event fans may not have yet seen – George Strait’s presentation of a brand new house to Sergeant First Class, Christopher Livesay.

At the end of the first round on the second day of the GSTRC, Mr. Strait and retired Lt. General Leroy Sisco from the Military Warriors Support Foundation, an organization close to the country music star’s heart, took a moment to let the dust settle and honor this Purple Heart and two Bronze Star Medals recipient. Wounded in battle defending our country, Sgt. Livesay was presented not only with a new house from Mr. Strait but Walmart also gifted him with a flat-screen TV, free groceries for a year, and a copy of every George Strait album sold at the store. You can view this heartfelt and generous moment here:

In addition to honoring Sgt. Livesay, the King of Country Music has changed the lives of many more heroes and their families by awarding a 100% mortgage-free home to at least one service member at every stop on his two-year ‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ tour which ends June 7, 2014.

If you know a wounded veteran injured during combat, become their hero by visiting the Military Warriors Support Foundation website to learn more about how they can receive a house through the Homes4WoundedHeros program.
