STETSON WRIGHT EYES MORE HISTORY
Heading into Round 10, Stetson Wright has set the single-season PRCA earnings record, which is at $822,545, all-around single-season record at $653,433 and bull riding single-season record at $517,994. Wright also has placed in 14 out the combined 18 rounds he competed in saddle bronc riding (six) and bull riding (eight). Wright also aiming to becoming the first cowboy to ride nine of 10 bulls since Adriano Moraes in 1996. The last time a bull rider placed in at least eight NFR rounds like Wright has so far was Jerome Davis in 1995.

DAWSON HAY HAS RECORD RIDE ON KILLER BEE’S LAST OUT
Saddle bronc rider Dawson Hay picked a good day to have a great day. The Canadian tied the Round 9 record with a winning ride of 92 points on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s BDM Mud’s Killer Bee Friday night at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge at the Thomas & Mack Center. The ride was noteworthy not only because of tying the round record, but also because it was the final out of Killer Bee’s career. For the performance, Killer Bee was chosen top saddle bronc horse of Round 9. In Round 4 of the 2022 NFR, Killer Bee carried Chase Brooks to an 88-point ride and was selected saddle bronc horse of the night. At the 2020 Wrangler NFR, Killer Bee was chosen the top bareback horse. She was the 2019 PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year and voted top bareback horse of Round 3 of the 2019 NFR. Killer Bee was also the top bareback horse of the 2018 NFR and top saddle bronc horse of the 2013 and 2014 NFRs. Killer Bee, 17, weighs 1,350 pounds and is 16.3 hands.

BULL RIDER LUKASEY MORRIS RETURNS TO RIDE IN ROUND 10
Bull rider Lukasey Morris, who missed Round 8 and Round 9 with a concussion will ride in Round 10. Morris has yet to make the eight-second whistle in his first seven rides. He was injured after he was bucked off by Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Arctic Assassin in Round 7. Morris is 15th in the world standings with $110,667.

STETSON WRIGHT LEADS RAM TOP GUN HEADED INTO ROUND 10
Bull rider Stetson Wright leads the PRCA | RAM Top Gun Standings after nine rounds in Las Vegas. He has earned $163,662 so far this Wrangler NFR. Saddle bronc rider Zeke Thurston is sitting second with $158,921.

NEWS & NOTES

Bareback rider Tim O’Connell will look to finish his NFR strong after his Round 9 win. O’Connell has drawn the 2022 Pendleton Whisky Let ‘er Buck Bareback Horse of the Year in Frontier Rodeo’s Gun Fire. Cole Franks finished fifth in Round 5 on the horse with an 86.5-point score. Jess Pope has his sights set on winning his first PRCA World Championship in Round 10. Pope gets on Frontier Rodeo’s Southern Star. The horse hasn’t had an out at this year’s Finals, but Mason Clements was 90 points on Southern Star at Riggin Rally Xtreme Bareback Riding in Weatherford, Texas…Headed into Round 10, NFR average leader Zeke Thurston is eyeing his third PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Championship. Thurston will look to accomplish the feat on Andrews Rodeo’s All or Nothin. There have been three 90-point rides on the horse this season. Dawson Hay wants to finish his 2022 NFR strong and the Canadian currently sits seventh in the average, hoping some final magic will boost his standing. Hay matches up with The Cervi Brothers’ Vitalix Womanizer, an award-winning horse Thurston had an 86-point trip on in Round 5… Bull rider Stetson Wright closes in on his second bull riding world title (2020), holding roughly a $168,000 lead. The all-around cowboy will face-off with Macza Pro Rodeo’s OLS Tubs Sunny. Josh Frost collected a second-place finish in Round 5 on the bull, notching an 88-point ride. Ky Hamilton has collected more than $100,000 in six qualified rides. The Australian matches up with Powder River Rodeo’s Domino. His traveling mate, Stetson, rode the bull to a 93-point trip at the Caldwell (Idaho) Night Rodeo.
