A Dream Come True – Calgary Stampede Lotteries 2022 Dream Home Winner Welcomed Home
Calgary – In July, Calgarian Derek Letourneau’s life forever changed, when he received a call from the Calgary Stampede Lotteries, letting him know he was the winner of the 2022 Rotary Dream Home. Today, the Calgary Stampede, Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park and Homes by Avi officially welcomed Derek to his new home, as the keys to the Dream Home were handed over.
“I was very excited and overwhelmed when I received the call that I won – this is absolutely life-changing. I can’t wait to move into the house pretty quickly here with my three children,” says 2022 Rotary Dream Home Winner, Derek Letourneau, who had just moved to Calgary from Victoria this past March. “When I was at Stampede with my daughter, I got an overwhelming feeling three times. The first when I walked through the Dream Home with her – I immediately purchased tickets. Then I walked past another Lotteries booth later that day, had another feeling and bought more tickets. And then a third time, where again, I bought more tickets. Before this, I had never bought a lottery ticket in my life.”
There were no lack of smiles as Derek was given the keys right at the home in the southeast Calgary community of Walden. The 2022 Dream Home, built by Homes by Avi, features three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms in a spacious 2,523 sq. ft. layout. In addition to the home, Derek also won $250,000 cash, and a package, that combined, totals more than $1.3 million.

In 2022, the Letourneau family weren’t the only winners of the Calgary Stampede Lotteries. Beyond those who took home the other coveted prizes, this year’s Calgary Stampede Lotteries gave back more than $1.3 million to the southern Alberta community and to local charities through the Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park, the Kinsmen Club of Calgary and the Calgary Marching Showband Association.
