Back Numbers Released for 2020 National Finals Steer Roping

The back numbers for the 2020 Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping are official.

Cole Patterson, the regular-season leader in the world standings, will wear the No. 1 back number at the NFSR, which takes place Nov. 6-7 in Mulvane, Kan.

Cole would love nothing more than to join his father, Rocky, as a steer roping world champion. Rocky, a four-time world champ, qualified in the No. 14 spot.

“It’s every kid’s dream growing up to put on that gold buckle,” Cole said. “There’s really no other reason why we do it.”

The NFSR is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (CT) each night at the Kansas Star Arena. Trevor Brazile is the reigning world champion. Tickets from $28, available at www.kansasstarcasino.com.

These 15 steer ropers will be vying for a world championship and a share of $425,000.

Each round pays six places: First ($9,155); second ($7,577); third ($5,998); fourth ($4,420); fifth ($2,841); sixth ($1,579).

The average pays six places: First ($27,347); second ($22,632); third place ($17,917); fourth ($13,202); fifth ($8,487); sixth ($4,715).
