Campbell and Woopaa Continue to be Great Partners as Campbell Wins Little Rock 15/15 Bucking Battle

By: Justin Felisko

PUEBLO, Colo. – Boudreaux Campbell flexed his muscles and hollered “easy money!” as he walked onto the dirt at Simmons Bank Arena this weekend following his first career 15/15 Bucking Battle victory.

It was obvious Campbell was extremely confident heading into his match against No. 1 YETI World Champion Bull contender Woopaa after previously riding the bull twice for 95 points or higher this season.

Campbell kept up his success aboard Woopaa by riding him once again, this time at the Bad Boy Mowers Mowdown in Little Rock, Arkansas, for 93.75 points and a 15/15 Bucking Battle win.

“When you get a bull that bucks that hard and is that athletic, they don’t get much better than that in this game, and so when you have a chance to get on that bull not once, not twice, but three times, it is a blessing. I can’t thank the good Lord above enough,” Campbell told Kate Harrison on CBS national television.

“To be able to ride any bull at this level three times in a row is saying something,” two-time World Champion Justin McBride said on the CBS broadcast. “Woopaa got a little close to the chutes, and it took him a while, but I thought he really finished good, but so did Boudreaux. It is so impressive to me for Boudreaux to ride that bull three times in a row.”

Woopaa once again asserted himself as the leading contender for the YETI World Champion bull title. The 5-year-old was marked 46 points, and he now holds the top spot in the standings with a 46.59-point average. Woopaa has bull scores of 46 points or higher in seven of his eight outs this season.

Woopaa is tentatively expected to next buck at the PBR Tractor Supply Co. Iron Cowboy, presented by Ariat, on Aug. 29.

Meanwhile, 2019 runner-up Chiseled rocketed from No. 7 to No. 2 in the standings with a 46.25-point bull score when he bucked off Mauricio Moreira in 3.09 seconds. Chiseled has a World Champion Bull average (top eight scores) of 45.84 points.

The 2021 YETI World Champion Bull will be the animal with the highest average bull score from their top eight regular-season outs and two outs at the PBR World Finals (Nov. 3-7 in Las Vegas).

However, Woopaa nor Chiseled were the top bull of the weekend.

Instead, it was Mezcal taking the YETI “Built for the Wild” top-bull honors with a career-best 46.5 points when he bucked off Eduardo Aparecido in 2.09 seconds in the championship round Sunday. Mezcal is ranked 26th in the YETI World Champion Bull standings.

The only other qualified ride in the 15/15 Bucking Battle was Keyshawn Whitehorse as the 2018 Rookie of the Year placed second with a 90.5-point ride on HomeBru. Whitehorse was competing with a sprained right MCL, possible broken foot and lacerated forehead.

Campbell had bucked off his first six career bulls in 15/15 Bucking Battles until finally punching through with a ride, and victory, this weekend.

The No. 6-ranked bull rider in the world earned 59 points toward the world standings. He will head into next weekend’s PBR Ariat Music City Knockout, presented by Cooper Tires, 933.5 points behind world leader Jose Vitor Leme.

Campbell told Harrison his first 15/15 win will certainly contribute to his ever-increasing confidence.

“A big difference,” Campbell said. “I got my first 1/5 15 Bucking Battle win. That was a goal of mine coming into today. I knew I struggled in the 15/15s, and I am really glad to break the ice and get the win here. My confidence is through the roof.”
