Carolina Cowboys Salvage their Weekend, Defeating Nashville Stampede in Final Regular-Season Game in Glendale

Carolina Cowboys: 262.25 / Nashville Stampede: 176

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Carolina Cowboys made three qualified rides count on Sunday afternoon, including another clutch ride from closer Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York), overcoming the Nashville Stampede, 262.25-176, on the third day of the final regular-season event of the 2022 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series season.

Hailed as the mark of consistency earlier in the season, Carolina had yet to win a game in October, and the team’s weekend was off to a rough start after losing on the first two nights of the three-day event. Heading into Championship Sunday undefeated in Glendale, the Nashville Stampede had its eyes on its first event win of the season.

Leading off for Carolina on Sunday afternoon, 2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) was the first to attempt to redeem the team after their losses on Friday and Saturday night. His ride aboard Show-Off (Ty Rinaldo TZ Bucking Bulls) delivered an 88.75-point score, putting the Cowboys on the board first.

“Mr. 300” Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) fired from the chutes aboard Money (Culp Bucking Bulls/Zapata/ Mendes), attempting to answer and put Nashville in the lead. However, he came crashing down after 6.43 seconds, leaving Carolina in the lead.

After a scoreless second frame and top of the third, Joao Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil) put an 88.75-point score on the board for Nashville at the bottom of the third after Back Jack (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger) changed direction, nearly getting Lucas off before the 8.

As the teams sat in a tie, Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett, Texas) stepped up to push the Cowboys ahead with a resounding 84.25-points on Apple Butter (Back Tard Bucking Bulls).

Immediately answering, Nashville’s Cladson Rodolfo (Pilar do Sul, Brazil) recorded 87.25 points aboard Cold Shot (Jeb Fredericks/ Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) to put the Stampede in the lead by three points.

Carolina’s closer, reigning PBR World Champion Swearingen, stood calmly on the back of the chutes preparing for his must-ride trip aboard Karizma (Triplett Bucking Bulls/ Melvy). Launching from the chutes, showcasing the talent that brought him the individual championship gold buckle in May, Swearingen locked in an 89.25-point score that would ultimately clinch the win.

In a must-ride situation, needing at least an 86.5-point score, three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sul, Brazil) was dispatched quickly by Bubba G (Dakota Rodeo/ Brian & Ashley Pintar/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger).

The win allowed Carolina to conclude Ridge Rider Days with a 1-2 record and improve to 15-13 on the season. The Nashville Stampede went 2-1 in Glendale and finished the 2022 regular season 7-20-1.

The PBR Team Series will next travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the inaugural PBR Team Series Championship at T-Mobile Arena, where the first league champion will be crowned. The event will be on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7:45 p.m. PT, Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7:45 p.m. PT and Sunday, Nov. 6, at 12:45 p.m. PT.
