Eagleburger Wins Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s Kubota Classic

BANGOR, Maine – Sunday afternoon inside of Cross Insurance Arena was electric as day three of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s (PWVT) Kubota Classic rolled to a close.

Missouri cowboy Dakota Eagleburger (Fair Grove, Missouri) emerged victorious after going 3-for-4 throughout the weekend to collect his first event win of the 2023 PWVT season.

With a sixth-place finish in Round 1 on Friday night courtesy of an 81.5-point ride aboard Sergeant Matt (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) and a second-place finish in Saturday’s Round 2 paired with Empty Glass (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) for 83 points, Eagleburger set himself up for a successful weekend despite hitting the dirt early in Round 3. After seeking redemption in the championship round aboard Flash Bang (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) he recorded an 87.5-point ride, securing the event win.

Eagleburger earned 160 Velocity Global points for his efforts in Maine.

Not far behind Eagleburger in his extraordinary weekend, the remaining Top 5 riders in Bangor went 2-for-4 to finish out the three-day event.

Dustin Martinez (Canjilon, New Mexico) collected a second-place finish.

Fans in Cross Insurance Arena were at full volume when Martinez’s 87.5-point ride score was announced after he went head-to-head with his bovine opponent Matthew (Generations Pro Rodeo) in Round 3. The championship round did not go as planned after his early departure aboard Gold Standard (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) at just 2.92 seconds.

The weekend earned the New Mexico cowboy 114 Velocity Global points.

Eighteen-year-old 2022 Ridge Riders athlete Vitor Losnake (Bauru, Brazil) secured his third-place finish after successfully riding Late Bloomer (J Bar W) for 83.5 points in Round 3 before being matched up with Pneu-Dart’s Chief Wahoo (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in the final round.

The championship matchup didn’t go as planned when Losnakes’s ride came to an end in a mere 2.04 seconds.

The young gun from Brazil collected 79 Velocity Global points.

Texan Garrett Jones (Devers, Texas) began the weekend on fire with an 81-point ride aboard G Money (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 to take second place. However, Sunday afternoon in Bangor did not go as planned for the Texan cowboy.

Jones was quickly dispatched in 3.3 seconds after Bruno (J Bar W.) exploded from the chutes.

Despite the setbacks, Jones finished the weekend in fourth place, collecting 66 Velocity Global points.

Justin Bates (Temple, Georgia) rounded out the Top 5 of the Kubota Classic.

After a first-place finish aboard Corner Pocket (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) for 84.5 points in Saturday’s Round 2. Bates was ready for Sunday. However, the weekend did not continue to go as he had planned.

In Sunday’s opening round, he hit the dirt early as Coolio (J Bar W) tossed him to the dirt far too early.

During the championship round, Bates was no match for the powerful bovine Highway 87 (J Bar W), as his ride was cut short after 2.71 seconds.

For his efforts, the 29-year-old cowboy received 66 Velocity Global points.

The talented bull riders the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will next head to Wheeling, West Virginia for the Wheeling Invitational Brought to you By Oglebay at the Wesbanco Arena March 17-18.
