Inagural Women’s Rodeo World Championship to Award $60,000 to Each Discipline Champion

Open Entries For The $750,000 World Championship Event Begin July 27

AUSTIN, Texas and PUEBLO, Colo.- WCRA (World Champions Rodeo Alliance) and PBR (Professional Bull Riders) today announced payout details regarding the November 3-7 Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) along with open entry dates and athlete package opportunities.

Contestants competing in four disciplines—breakaway roping, barrel racing, and team roping (heading and heeling) will compete for their piece of a historical $750,000 purse. Athletes in each discipline will compete for $136,000 in the main event, with each discipline champion walking away with a minimum of $60,000 each.

All 24 athletes in each discipline who compete in the main event will receive a paycheck. The event will also award $20,000 to the Women’s Rodeo All-Around Champion. On May 18, the organizations announced the event format and progression- click here to learn more.

WCRA and PBR also announced that open entries for the event will begin on July 27 at Noon CT and close on October 18 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Early entry fees will be a discounted $500 until August 17 when they increase to $625. In addition, the first 20 entries in each discipline will receive an official WRWC contestant vest. Full price entries fees will go into effect on August 31 and rise to $750 until books close. All entries will be taken through entrytool.com.

WCRA and PBR will offer a limited number of entry and room packages for athletes. Select packages include: entry into the WRWC, stall for the week, hotel room, event merchandise or vest, and PBR Unleash The Beast World Finals tickets. Nominations for the 2020 Women’s Rodeo World Championship Leaderboard will run from May 18 – October 11 at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Athletes who earn the Top 4 spots on the WCRA Leaderboard at the end of the nomination period (October 11) will be directly seeded into the main event while athletes ranked No. 5-No. 64 on the leaderboard will compete in qualifying pools.

All athletes advancing through the WCRA Leaderboard will not be required to pay an entry fee. For more information on nominations and earning points through the WCRA, please visit HERE.

Athletes who enter through the “Open to the World Qualifying Pools” will be placed into pro and challenger divisions. All athletes in the Open to the World Qualifying Pools will compete in two rounds of competition with 18 athletes per pool advancing to the progressive round. Those who do not advance to the progressive round have the option to re-enter in a redemption round. The top 10 fastest times in the one-run progressive round will advance to the main event.

The Women’s Rodeo World Championship will be carried on RidePass, the PBR’s western sport digital network.
