#InCaseYouMissedIt: Leme Wins Season Debut, Rockets up UTB Standings

By: Darci Miller

If you thought Jose Vitor Leme’s latest rib injury would keep him out of the hunt for a world title… well, think again, because he was back to his old ways in New York. Plus, Jesse Petri is on the attack this season, the Velocity Tour crowned a few winners, and more. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.

On the Unleash The Beast…

After missing the first five events of the season due to broken ribs, two-time World Champion Jose Vitor Leme was behind the 8-ball coming into New York City.

But in typical Leme fashion, he put the pedal to the metal, earning the event win in his season debut and slotting into No. 10 in the Unleash The Beast standings. Not bad for a weekend of work!

Reigning Rookie of the Year Bob Mitchell also had a huge weekend in the Big Apple. After tying with Joao Ricardo Vieira for the Round 1 win…

Mitchell led in the aggregate heading into the last day of competition, ultimately finishing third overall.

Jesse Petri is turning advice from his mentor Jim Sharp into success this season, tying for the Round 3 win in New York and finishing fourth on the leaderboard.

New York City was a culture shock for 18-year-old Koltin Hevalow, but that didn’t stop him from tying for third place in Round 1.

Meanwhile, on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour…

Brandon Davis and Carlos Gomes Junior tied for the Round 1 win at the Lexington Invitational…

…but Alex Marcilio won both Round 2 and the championship round to claim the overall event win.

Across the country in Portland, Oregon, Conner Halverson went 2-for-2 to collect a win of his own.
