New Foods and Fantastic Flavours to Arrive at 2023 Calgary Stampede Midway

Calgary – Peanut butter, pickles, and poutine – oh my! Tempt your tastebuds with more than 50 new foods coming to the Calgary Stampede Midway, July 7-16.

With a variety of fun flavours to try, this year’s menu has no shortage of sweet, salty, and downright daring dishes. Indulge in new items like the Ketchup and Mustard Ice Cream, Peanut Butter Pickle Dog, Street Corn Lemonade, Poutine Colossal Onion and $100 Dog – Jalapeno Cheddar Gut Buster.

Looking for something more traditional? Try the Elkeroni Pizza! This thin crust, fire roasted flatbread pizza is topped with vine-ripened crushed tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sustainably raised elk pepperoni, organic arugula and mushrooms, making it a tasty twist on a popular pizza.

Satisfy your sweet (and spicy) tooth with the Habanero Cherry Ice Cream Taco, a delicious plant-based and gluten-free treat that is perfect for summer.

“The flavourful foods coming to the Stampede Midway are sure to impress guests,” said Kyle Russell, Director, Stampede Programming. “This fantastic culinary experience is one you won’t want to miss for all 10 days at the Calgary Stampede!”

If you appreciate the classics, don’t worry – you can still get all your festival favourites on the Midway, like mini donuts, corn dogs, and freshly squeezed lemonade. Find the full list of new foods, with photos here.

This year also makes a century of syrup for the Calgary Stampede. In 1923, the racers of the Calgary Stampede’s first chuckwagon races gathered for what would become the first pancake breakfast. Over the next 100 years, thousands of volunteers have made millions of pancakes to honour our heritage and build our community.

Now, more than 200,000 pancakes are consumed every year at community breakfasts over the 10 days of Stampede.

Stampede 2023 is just 57 days away! Between taste tests, take in the Stampede Rodeo or Evening Show. Tickets are on sale now and you can get the best seats in the house by visiting CalgaryStampede.com/tickets.
