This weekend, ProRodeoLive.com will be simulcasting Steve Kenyon’s in-house announcing of the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show in Union, Ore., beginning Thursday night, 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT with the Ed Miller Memorial PRCA Xtreme Bull Riding event, and continuing through the rodeo’s finale on Sunday afternoon. Performance times are 4 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2 p.m. on Saturday June 7 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday June 8. Also this weekend, Rural Radio Sirius XM Channel 80 will be broadcasting live for the first time from the Wild West Pro Rodeo in Silver City, N.M. Rodeo fans can join Rob Matthews on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. MT for that coverage … Jeff Schumacher, who has 17 years’ experience in sports and entertainment management, took over as general manager of the Salinas Sports Complex on May 31, and will oversee production of this year’s California Rodeo Salinas. He replaced Roger La Fountain, who had served as the SSC general manager for 14 years … A delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., attended the Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo in Central Point, Ore., over the weekend as part of the fifth annual Oregon-China Investment, Education, Culture and Tourism Conference … PRCA Gold Card Member George W. Ortner, a team roper, rancher and saddle maker, died April 23 in Great Falls, Mont., at the age 77 … The Feeding Hope Food Drive received nearly 5,000 pounds of packaged goods as a result of its partnership with last week’s Old Fort Days Rodeo in Fort Smith, Ark. Fans could save $2 off the price of admission by donating a non-perishable food item, and the items were then utilized by the Antioch Association for Youth and Families, which feeds approximately 7,500 people each month … The Grande Prairie (Alberta) Stompede recognized its one-millionth visitor over the weekend, pulling Travis Sharpe, 28, out into the arena to present him with a commemorative plaque and a lifetime pass to the rodeo from Terri Ellen Sudnik, president of the Stompede Board … Clint Swindall and Nancy Loeffler have been elected to the Executive Committee of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition (SALE) and will serve as Vice Presidents … Jerry and Sue Golliher, long-time supporters of the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche, S.D., have been selected as the grand marshals for the 95th Annual Roundup Parade on July 4. Both are members of the Casey Tibbs Hall of Fame, and Jerry, 69, is inducted in the Black Hills State University Rodeo Hall of Fame … Forty women participated in the inaugural Chicks n’ Chaps event at the Santa Maria (Calif.) Elks Rodeo last week to learn about the sport from ProRodeo Hall of Fame stock contractor Cotton Rosser and rodeo clown Frankie “Punkintown” Smith, while raising money for the Mission Hope Cancer Center … Boot Barn, the official Western retailer of the PRCA, opened a new 10,000-square foot store in Denton, Texas, on May 30.
