News & Notes from the Rodeo Trail, March 15

Allen Rheinheimer has been named general manager of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the National Finals Rodeo Committee announced March 11. The event, which was held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, in 2020 due to COVID-19-related issues, is annually held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas and is scheduled for Dec. 2-11, 2021. Rheinheimer will work closely with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Las Vegas Events and the NFRC on all aspects of rodeo production. During his career, Rheinheimer has overseen all elements of equestrian and livestock production, including many aspects of the Wrangler NFR. Since 2000, he has served as the construction maintenance manager, coordinating production elements of the Wrangler NFR, including openings and anthems, rehearsals, maintenance crews, risk management procedures and production timeline development.


Time is running out for nominations for the 2021 class of the Tarleton State University Rodeo Hall of Fame in Stephenville, Texas. The nomination committee is expected to meet the week of March 15. New members will be presented at the annual Tarleton Stampede NIRA Rodeo in April, with induction in November. The Hall of Fame honors individuals and teams who have made an outstanding contribution to Tarleton rodeo. Nominees are eligible for induction five years after their last season at Tarleton. They must have participated in collegiate rodeo for at least two years. The Tarleton Rodeo Hall of Fame opened in 2012 and features 47 inductees.
