PBR Brings First-Ever Tour Event to Waco, Texas, With two Nights of Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Action

By: Easton Colvin

WACO, Texas – As PBR (Professional Bull Riders) continues to blaze the trail for fans returning back into the arena for live sporting events, the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) will buck into Waco’s Extraco Events Center for the first time, with new fan safety protocols in place. PBR’s expansion tour will offer fans two-nights of white-knuckle bull riding action, with bulls bucking at 7:30 p.m. on September 18 and 19.

Tickets for the two-nights of Waco Invitational action are on sale now and start at $15. They can be purchased online at PBRtix.com, over the phone by calling 800-732-1727 or at extracoeventscenter.com.

As approved by, and in cooperation with McLennan County government, as well as Extraco Events Center, PBR is instituting a series of fan safety protocols to welcome fans back into the stands for bull riding action, including:

-All Extraco Events Center staff will be subject to Coronavirus screening and temperature checks each day

-All PBR staff, riders and stock contractors will be subject to COVID-19 medical testing

-PBR will only sell up to 50% of arena capacity, split into POD seating, to ensure social distancing and minimize fan crossover when entering and exiting seats.

-All event attendees will be encouraged to wear facial coverings

-All PBR staff, riders and stock contractors will be required to wear masks at all times

-Increased sanitization of high-contact areas

-Social distancing will be encouraged in all high contact areas, including concession and restroom lines

Prior to mass-gathering restrictions implemented due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), PBR’s PWVT last competed in front of a full allotment of fans in Bangor, Maine, at Cross Insurance Center, March 6-8.

On July 10-12, PBR welcomed fans back for the first time in Sioux Falls, S.D., for the playoffs of a special team tournament created to keep the sport going during the pandemic, the groundbreaking PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge, as well as a PWVT event, that featured the same reduced POD seating and guidelines set for the Waco Invitational.

The Waco Invitational, the first PBR tour stop in Waco ever, is a chance for riders to continue their push to the 2020 PWVT Championship, and a birth at the 2020 PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two, one-round events begin at 7:30 p.m. each competition night with a 45-man long-round, followed by a 15-man championship round.

The PWVT is the fastest-growing tour on the PBR circuit, with attendance up +135% over the last five years. The 2020 PBR PWVT season consists of more than 30 stops, bringing the toughest sport on dirt to cities such as Portland, Ore.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Jacksonville, Fla., and Las Vegas. The culmination of the 2020 season will be the PWVT Finals in Las Vegas, October 30 – November 1. The 2020 PWVT Champion will hoist the cherished gold buckle, and get an automatic bid to the 2020 PBR World Finals. Former PWVT champions include some of the top riders in the world today, such as Chase Outlaw (2016), Alisson De Souza (2018) and most recent champion Jose Vitor Leme (2019).
