PBR Pick ‘Em Morning Line – Anaheim Round 1

By: Slade Long

Boudreaux Campbell on 10725/5 Renegade:

This bull has the lowest difficulty rating a bull can have and still be invited to UTB-level events. Renegade is a solid performer and good for mid-80s scores, but he’s been ridden six times in seven career outs. Campbell has been busy this season. He’s been on more than 120 bulls already in 2021, and while this is not his best year numbers-wise, he’s No. 6 in the PBR and No. 15 in the PRCA at the moment. He’s supposed to ride this one easily.

Eduardo Aparecido on 70 Tin Star:

Tin Star doesn’t have a long career, but so far, he hasn’t met a right-handed rider he could throw off; he’s 0-3 against them. Aparecido is having a noticeably off year. He’s ridden just 28% of his bulls compared to his usual 40-50%. Chances are he will correct his course over time, and this bull may be a good start.

Dakota Louis on 68D 4B Special:

Unlike Campbell and Aparecido, Dakota Louis is having a good year, although mostly outside the UTB-level events. He’s been more consistent, riding nearly 40% of his bulls. He needs PBR points to qualify for the World Finals, and he has a chance to get some here. 4B Special has been ridden in his last four outs and has been weak to left-handed riders.

Ramon de Lima on 21 Jaynette’s Pet 2:

This is a very rideable bull, but not so much for left-handers. He threw Jess Lockwood off in Billings this year, and he’s 5-1 overall against lefties. However, the one lefty who rode him was Lima. They met back in 2017, and Lima was 88.5 points to win a short round at a TPD-level event.

Jose Vitor Leme on 9020 Gangster of Love:

Gangster of Love has been ridden in six of his last seven outs, and he’s 3-7 against lefties in his career. Add Leme to this matchup, and the probability of a qualified ride is around 66% – a really high number in a sport with an under-30% success rate. Leme is racking up points at a rate that affects everyone below him. There are fewer points to go around because Leme is taking so many for himself.

Eli Vastbinder on 720 Facetious:

Vastbinder bucked off this bull back in May, but he’s riding better now than he was then. There are some really easy bulls in this round. Facetious is not one of them, but he is rideable, and Vastbinder is on a roll right now.

Thiago Salgado on W20 War Cry:

This is one of the strongest bulls in the round and one of the hardest to ride. He’s been ridden just once this year, but if Salgado can make the whistle, he stands to earn points that could help him stay off the bubble. He’s ranked No. 33 right now.

Jesse Petri on 220 Hummer’s Gold:

Craig Hummer is a super nice guy, and this bull who shares his name is also super nice. Like Boudreaux Campbell’s bull, this one is really, really easy for this level of competition. He can be quick and intense, but he has trouble getting guys on the ground. Petri should be able to pick up a solid first-round score.

Kaique Pacheco on 632 Boss Hog:

This bull can be hit or miss. The one consistent thing about him is that he’s hard to ride. Pacheco is capable of riding any bull, but in the World Championship race, it doesn’t hurt to out-draw your competitors once in a while. Pacheco hasn’t been doing that lately, and certainly not here. Leme has a slam dunk in this round compared to this.

Cody Jesus on 591 Twisted X:

Jesus drew well here. Twisted X should be right up his alley. This bull doesn’t get out much, but he’s been ridden in about half his UTB-level outs. He has great timing, and he likes to go to the left, which will be into Cody’s hand.
