PBR Pick ‘Em Morning Line – Chicago 2

By: Slade Long

The conclusion of the PBR Tractor Supply Co. Invitational airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

Daylon Swearingen on E13 Hurts So Good:

Swearingen is tied for fifth coming in to this round, and he should get an easy score here. He rode this bull for 89.5 points at the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals in Las Vegas, and that doesn’t tell the whole story. Swearingen earned 47 points worth of a rider score on a 42.5-point bull, which is to say he made as pretty a spur ride as has ever been made on a bull. Absolute domination. Hurts So Good has never really met a left-handed rider he wanted to throw off. Jesse Petri was 88 points on him in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago.

Ezekiel Mitchell on -6 Delbert:

Mitchell is leading the event after winning Round 1, and he has a pretty good draw here. Delbert has been ridden in two of his last three outs for 89.25 points each time. He’s been ridden about equally as often by right and left-handed riders, which usually means he has fantastic timing or lacks power, or both.

Joao Henrique Lucas on 728 Draggin’ Up:

Draggin’ Up is one of the better bulls to draw in the PBR right now. Lucas bucked off of him in 2020, but this bull has been mostly dominated by riders at this level. He should go away from Lucas’s hand, but he’s rideable that way too. Great timing, lack of power.

Jess Lockwood on 301 Show Me Homie:

Lockwood is overdue to get back to being Jess Lockwood. This bull might get him started. Show Me Homie is a solid bull who normally goes to the left. He’s not a pushover, and not easy, but he is ridden often enough by lefties. Lockwood was 88.5 on him back in 2019.

Joao Ricardo Vieira on 47E Ranch Water:

This bull hasn’t been to a lot of events, but he’s been ridden a lot already. Vieira should have a solid edge here. Ranch Water can go either way, but he likes the left and is 1-2 against lefties. Vieira is riding as well as ever right now, and could end up with the world standings lead after this event. Kyler Oliver drew a much tougher bull here, and bucked off in Round 1 as well.

Cody Teel on 15E Red Mosquito:

Teel bucked off this bull last year at the 7-second mark, but he should still be the favorite in this matchup. Teel is the only right-handed guy Red Mosquito has gotten the best of. He should go to the right, and he is really a good fit for any right-handed rider.

Stetson Lawrence on 514 Bottoms Up:

Lawrence was out with a broken neck for the last half of the 2021 season. Since his return, he’s 5-of-8 and is sitting 8th in the world standings. He rode his first-round bull here as well. This will be a tough matchup for him, though. Bottoms Up is solid against lefties and can be hard to ride in general. He can go either way, but guessing he will go left here out of a left delivery. He can scoot forward and reverse his spin and that makes him challenging, especially if the reverse is away from the rider’s hand. That’s harder to manage. If you know the bull is going to spin both ways, most riders would prefer away from their hand first, because the transition is easier.

Dalton Kasel on 592 Not Today:

Kasel is 1-for-2 against this bull. He previously rode Not Today for 89 points in Sacramento, California, last August. You would think the name “Not Today” kind of means “You’re not going to stay on me today”, but it may mean the opposite. He’s been ridden in five of his last six outs.

Eli Vastbinder on 15-5 Dr. Campbell:

Vastbinder got his first-round bull covered, and he has a pretty good chance on this one. Dr. Campbell is rideable, and he went for a six-month stretch last season being extremely rideable. Between January and early July, he was ridden six times in seven attempts
