PBR Pick ‘Em Morning Line – Jacksonville Round 2

By: Slade Long

Caic Cassio Carvalho on 618 XO:

We haven’t seen all that much of this guy, but we have seen that he is insanely good on bulls that go into his hand. He was 87 points last night, and he has a bull in Round 2 who is a real creampuff against lefties. XO has been ridden in his last three outs, and he’s 1-3 against left-handed riders. He also has the lowest difficulty rating of any bull in the round.

Ezekiel Mitchell on 407 Buffalo Scott:

This is a tough but winnable matchup for Mitchell. Buffalo Scott is usually out of a right-hand delivery, but he can go either way. He’s a pretty solid and consistent PBR long-round bull. Mitchell turned in an 87.75-point score last night, and he has a chance to earn a second score here.

Cooper Davis on C08 Amy’s Pet:

Davis has fallen in the standings a little due to a combination of injury and Pacheco and Leme going on a tear, but he’s ridden 10 of his last 15 bulls, and he’s probably going to ride this one too. Amy’s Pet is about the best matchup Davis could have drawn in this round. He has a really low difficulty rating and a serious weakness for right-handed riders. Davis is a huge favorite to stay on here, and he had a big score last night as well.

Mason Taylor on 643 Cold Chill:

Sixteen guys got a score in Round 1, and Taylor was one of those. He has better odds against this bull than he did against Buckeye Bill in Round 1. Cody Teel was 88.5 points on Cold Chill at the World Finals, and Cooper Davis was 89 points on him last October.

Jose Vitor Leme on 362A Heartbreak Kid:

If there was ever a week to gain ground on Leme, this is it. He has drawn pretty tough so far. The last time Leme was blanked at an event was in October of last year in Tulsa. He has to ride this bull to avoid getting blanked here, and this bull is one of the most difficult bulls in the business and easily the most difficult in this round. That said, Leme’s odds against him are a little better than his odds against his first-round bull, even though he’s 0-2 against this one. They met in 2018 and 2019 when Heartbreak Kid was more of a monster than he is now. Over the past 12 months, this bull is more rideable than he was two years ago, and Leme certainly has a fair chance against him, especially if he goes left.

Cody Teel on 601 Western Mood:

This bull has a short history, and we haven’t seen him in action in more than a year. Western Mood has been ridden one time in five career outs by Eduardo Aparecido – a right-handed guy. Teel nearly beat one of the most difficult bulls in the game last night, and just about every bull is going to be easier to ride and infinitely less annoying to try to ride than Old Fort Days. Teel has a pretty good chance to get on the board here.

Jesse Petri on 706 Hard Shot:

This is an odd matchup to feature and one that most people will skim over. Petri has bucked off his last seven bulls, bucked off last night, and is 35th in the standings right now. However, the probability of a qualified ride is really high here, mainly because this bull is very good to ride and has great timing. He’s been ridden four times in eight career outs. Boudreaux Campbell was 88.5 points on him in Kansas City. Petri may not have been in the headlines lately, but this is an important chance for him to earn points and stay on tour with a great draw.

Kaique Pacheco on 54 Chinese Cigar:

This is a relatively unknown bull who has spent most of his time at rodeos, sort of like the bull Pacheco drew in Round 1 and got a re-ride on. Like Cooper Davis, Pacheco is in an excellent position to gain ground on Leme. He got his score in Round 1, but Davis drew better than him in this one. Hard to say how this will go, but Pacheco has ridden his last five bulls in a row and won’t go down easily.

Dener Barbosa on 6E Liston:

Barbosa has a good shot at a round win here. Chase Dougherty won a round in Nampa on this bull, and he went to the left. Barbosa is on as much of a roll as Pacheco, Leme and Davis, and could pick up a big score with this draw.

Joao Henrique Lucas on 553C Hard to Twist:

Lucas won the first round, but unfortunately, he has one of the most accurately named bulls around in Round 2. Hard to Twist really is hard to twist. He’s 25-1 in his career and has thrown off several top riders.
