PBR Pick ‘Em Morning Line – Tulsa Round 1 & 15/15 Bucking Battle

By: Slade Long

Jose Vitor Leme on 714 Body Count:

Dalton Kasel was 89.5 on this bull at the Velocity Tour Finals in Sioux Falls, SD last season. If Body Count has the same trip here, Leme could easily pick up yet another 90+ point ride. With the win in Cheyenne, Leme has extended his world standings lead to 361.5 points, which is more points than the 10th place rider has on the season right now.

Joao Ricardo Vieira on 72 Hundred Bad Days:

This bull should go strong into Vieira’s hand, and Vieira is usually rock solid on bulls that go to the left. Hundred Bad Days has given up three 91+ point rides to Jose Vitor Leme this season.

Cooper Davis on 705E Manaba:

This is potentially the highest scoring ride you will see tonight, including the 15/15 round matchups. Manaba is unridden in 8 career outs, and has looked unbeatable. But he loves going to the right, and he hasn’t faced any top tier right-handed riders. He should be a good fit for Davis, and he’s a strong enough bull to deliver a huge score if Davis can break his unridden streak.

Boudreaux Campbell on E18 Cuttin’ Torch:

This bull likes the left, and Campbell really likes bulls that go to the left. In terms of style, Cuttin’ Torch is somewhere between Woopaa and I’m Legit Too, although he may not be as strong as either. He will be out of a right hand delivery here, and he’s normally been out of a left. That may change things up.

Dener Barbosa on 131 True Soldier:

Both Joao Vieira and Dalton Kasel have rides on True Soldier this season. This bull should go to the left, and be pretty good fit for Barbosa. Like everyone else in the top five, Barbosa can’t afford to let any opportunities slip by if he wants to contend for a world title.

15/15 Round

Cole Melancon on 612 Ridin’ Solo:

Melancon has gone through a dry spell after starting the season fairly strong. He’s 0-2 against this bull this season and didn’t make it to the 3 second mark either time. Solo was almost ridden by Kaique Pacheco last week in Cheyenne, and posted his lowest bull score in over a year. He has the same kind of exceptional athleticism that Woopaa has and can outscore any bull here.

Mauricio Gulla Moreira on 46 Hank:

Moreira is a big underdog in this matchup. Hank is pretty strong against every kind of rider, but especially so against lefites. Moriera has two qualified rides in his last five UTB level events.

Chase Dougherty on 22 Night Hawk:

This bull is kind of similar to Woopaa, in that he springs up in the air and has a lot of action. The difference is he goes to the right, and he’s got some forward movement – always moving away from the rider. This makes him difficult to ride, and his record shows it. He’s 19-0 in his career, and he’s bucked off Jose Vitor Leme, Kaique Pacheco, and Boudreaux Campbell in the past 8 months.

Silvano Alves on X17 Moonwalk:

This is a brand new bull who only has three outs on record from Touring Pro level outs this season. He’s unridden, and put up 44.5 and 45-point bull scores in his last couple of outs. Alves is in 13th place in the world standings, but he’s bucked off his last 7 straight bulls at this level.

Keyshawn Whitehorse on D27 Home Brew:

Home Brew has been ridden a couple of times this season, and three times in his career, all by left-handed riders, although he backed out of the chute and went to the right the last time he was ridden earlier this month. He’s 6-0 against right-handers. Whitehorse will have to get it done going away from his hand here.

Derek Kolbaba on 57 Diddy Wa Diddy:

This is the best draw Kolbaba could have hoped for in this round outside of Woopaa. These two met in Okeechobee, FL in January and the result was a 90.75-point ride and a short round win for Kolbaba. Diddy has given up three more 90+ point rides to left-handed riders since then, including Jesse Petri in Cheyenne last week.

Junior Patrick Souza on 262 Oilfield Outlaw’s Yellow Feather:

Yellow Feather has quietly been one of the strongest bulls we have seen all season. He was arguably the rankest bull at Cheyenne with Cody Nance last week, although he didn’t get the highest score at the event. Joao Vieira rode him early this season, but this bull has gotten more powerful since then. Souza will have his work cut out for him.

Cody Teel on 94 First Down:

This bull is relatively new compared to many of the others in this round. He’s a solid performer who likes to go to the right, which should be good for Teel. He has some power, and he may slow up his spin and start getting more up and down toward the end of the ride, similar to long time PBR veteran Spotted Demon. This bull can be a little tricky, but Teel has a good chance here.

Marco Eguchi on A1 The Sauce:

Kaique Pacheco rode this bull in Jacksonville back in May, but he’s also bucked off of him twice. The Sauce is 15-1 in his career, and he’s a little harder than he looks. He’s not a speed demon, but he’s powerful. He can move ahead and leave the rider hung out to dry. Eguchi is capable of making the whistle here, but he will have to work hard to do it.

Boudreaux Campbell on 500 I’m Legit Too:

Legit Too is a good fit for left-handed riders, but he’s still pretty challenging for them. Campbell rode him ofr 91.75 in October of last year, but bucked off of him this past April in Oklahoma City. This bull’s M.O. is to use his speed and spin to the left to keep a lot of pressure on riders. He doesn’t give guys much of a chance to recover if they get out of position. Campbell will have to find the sweet spot and stay in it to get the job done.

Joao Ricardo Vieira on 39D Top Shelf:

Vieira was 90.5 on this bull just last week. Top Shelf is a very nice draw in any round, especially for left-handed riders. Jose Vitor Leme put together a string of three straight 91+ point rides on him earlier this season.

Dener Barbosa on 43C- Chiseled:

Barbosa was blanked in Cheyenne, but he won the Las Vegas event before the break. He has a tough matchup here. Chiseled has been ridden a good bit, but mostly by right-handed riders. He’s a little tricker for lefties because they can’t get away with any sloppiness. The only lefties who have ridden him are Jess Lockwood and Jose Vitor Leme – two guys who don’t make a lot of mistakes.

Cooper Davis on 623 Born to Sin:

Davis is 1 for 2 on this bull. He rode him for 90 points and the 15/15 round win in the freezing cold in Del Rio, TX back in February. Marco Eguchi also rode this bull in Jacksonville, FL in May. This is a good draw for Davis. He’s not the easiest bull around, but he’s on the lighter end of the bull power in this pen.

Kaique Pacheco on 60 Midnight Rock:

Pacheco rode this bull about a year ago in Guthrie, OK, but since then Midnight Rock is 16-0 with 13 of those outs at the UTB level. This bull should be a good fit for right-handed riders, but he’s been winning his battles with them for the past year. This has ramped up his number to where he’s a much tougher looking bull on paper than he was when he and Pacheco first met last August.

Jose Vitor Leme on 124 Woopaa:

Obviously this is a heavy favorite for the round win. Woopaa is the dream draw for any lefty rider here. The judges love him, and he is as showy as a bull can get, but his difficulty rating is a little below your average long round bull. This is mostly because he’s faced Leme twice, and he’s also given up two big scores to Boudreaux Campbell this year. Woopaa has the ability to kick it up a notch from what we saw last week, but he’s doing battle with a steamroller here. Leme is making this sport look easy right now.
