Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Rumbles Back to Worcester for Sixth Time on Feb. 26, 2022

By: Kacie Albert

WORCESTER, Mass. – For the sixth time in league history, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will return to Worcester, Massachusetts, with the Worcester Rumble slated to buck into DCU Center on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

For one night only, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s rankest bovine athletes in the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness.

The PBR last traveled to Worcester, a fan-favorite event, in 2020, hosting a sold-out crowd at DCU Center. As the lone rider to go a perfect 2-for-2, Tye Chandler (Celina, Texas) notched his first event win of the season at the Worcester Rumble.

The Texan began his outing in the Bay State tying for the third-best score of the opening round when he covered Red Fury (Kruger Bucking Bulls) for 83 points.

Chandler then returned in the championship round with a vengeance. As the only rider to cover his bovine athlete opponent in the 10-man round, Chandler recorded the high-marked ride of the event when he went the distance aboard Lab Rat (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Circle G/Coleman) for 86 points.

For his efforts, Chandler garnered 39.5 world points, surging to No. 24 in the world. As the season wound to a close, Chandler capped the year with his first qualification to the PBR World Finals, finishing a career-best No. 30 in the world.

Other past winners in Worcester include Daniel Tinsman (2019; Farmland Indiana), Juan Carlos Contreras (2018; Huichapan, Mexico), Emilio Resende (2017; Santa Helena, Brazil), Winston Lopez (2016; Bandera, Texas), and Austin Meier (2015; Kinta, Oklahoma).

The Worcester tour stop will tentatively mark the 15th Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event of the year, with PBR’s fastest-growing tour first stopping in cities including Portland, Oregon; Cedar Park, Texas; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Jacksonville, Florida.

The bull riding action for the 2022 PBR Worcester Rumble begins at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 26, at DCU Center.

On Saturday evening, all 40 competing riders will attempt one bull each in Round 1. Following the opening round, the Top 10 will then advance to the championship round, where they will attempt one final bull, all in an effort to be crowned the event champion.
