PRCA Flashback Friday: Cody Wright Claims 2010 Saddle Bronc World Title

Saddle bronc rider Cody Wright qualified for 13 Wrangler National Finals Rodeos during his PRCA career, but he said one of the most memorable came at the 2010 NFR in Las Vegas.

Wright claimed his second PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Championship that year, but it didn’t come without a fight to the finish. He clinched the title in Round 10 with an 87-point ride on Harry Vold Rodeo’s Painted Valley, which was the 2010 PRCA Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year.

The ride not only secured Wright another world championship, but the NFR average win as well with 847 points on 10 head. He finished the year with $247,579, edging out Wade Sundell, who wrapped up the season in second with $224,673.

Wright set the tone for the championship by winning Rounds 2, 3 and 6. He would go on to place in a total of eight rounds, which at the time help him set the record for the most money won in saddle bronc riding at the NFR with $148,287.

Wright is the father to reigning PRCA World Champions Stetson (All-Around & Bull Riding) and Ryder Wright (Saddle Bronc Riding).
