PRCA Weekly Recap: Dustin Boquet Stays in Top 15 With 92-Point Ride

The past three weeks have been anything but easy for veteran bull rider Dustin Boquet. The two-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier (2018, 2020) went through a stretch of being bucked off 10 straight bulls.

But his luck changed over the weekend in Spanish Fork, Utah, with the highest bull riding score of the week of July 19-25.

The Bourg, La., cowboy, put together the highest-scored ride of his nine-year ProRodeo career at the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Rodeo, going for 92 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Glory Days. It was the first time that bull had been ridden this season.

“I knew Jordan Hansen got on him at the Xtreme Bulls there, so I knew guys were familiar with him,” Boquet said. “I just kind of went at him, I didn’t go watch a video of him, I didn’t go look him up, I just took their word and went with it. They had said you could be 88 on him and the next thing I know I’m 92 on him. He was a really good bull.”

The win in Spanish Fork earned him $8,347, which bumped him up to 10th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $58,727. It provided a much-needed confidence boost for the 27-year-old headed into the “Daddy of ’em All,” Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days.

“It’s given me a lot of confidence; it was taking a toll on me not staying on anything for a while,” Boquet said. “I kept my faith strong; I knew I could do it, I just didn’t know when it was going to turn around and I’m thankful that it turned around at Spanish Fork right before Cheyenne.”

Boquet is scheduled to ride in the third performance at Cheyenne Frontier Days July 26. The rodeo is being broadcast on The Cowboy Channel and streamed on the PRCA on Cowboy Channel Plus App through Aug. 1.

Below are the other top times and rides for the week of July 19-25.
