PRCA Weekly Recap: Feb. 10-16

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – High scores, fast runs and big checks were ProRodeo’s theme for the week as cowboys competed for $1.01 million across 11 ProRodeo competitions around the U.S., Feb. 10-16.

Bareback rider Tim O’Connell matched the PRCA world record for the highest score with his 94-point ride on Northcott Macza’s Stevie Knicks at the San Angelo Cinch Chute-Out Rodeo, Feb. 15.

Between the Chute-Out and the San Angelo Rodeo, the city featured more than half a million dollars’ worth of prize money. Meanwhile, cowboys duked it out at one of the biggest rodeos of the season, the San Antonio (Texas) Stock Show & Rodeo, which airs on The Cowboy Channel.

The fastest times and highest scores might not always make the record book, but they make a lasting memory for fans and competitors. With more than 700 PRCA competitions across the Western Hemisphere, there are plenty of opportunities to make a memorable ride.

Although the prize money differs from one competition to the next, the judging remains consistent across the board.

In addition to the fame that comes with winning the most prize money, each ride was a chance to be the best of the week. Here’s a look at the highest scores and fastest times for each event held Feb. 10-16.

Steer wrestler Blake Knowles stopped the clock in 3.3 seconds in San Antonio, Feb. 13.

Team ropers Dustin Bird and Levi Tyan tied the fastest run of the 2020 season with their 3.5-second run in San Antonio, Feb. 11. Their run came just two days after Jaxson Tucker and Jake Clay posted their 3.5-second run in San Angelo.

Saddle bronc rider Ryder Wright scored 89 points on Calgary Stampede’s Young Carma in San Antonio, Feb. 14.

Two tie-down ropers posted 7.1-second runs, both on Feb. 15. Shad Mayfield made his run in San Angelo and Tuf Cooper’s was in San Antonio.
