Reno Rodeo 100 Years 100 Stories Announces Finale Event
RENO, Nev. — With the dust settled on the 100th-year celebration of the Reno Rodeo, the final installment of the Reno Rodeo 100 Years 100 Stories project will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Dolan Lexus. Over the past two years, Reno Rodeo 100 has hosted storytellers from the Rodeo family who have recounted dozens of tales from the rich history of the Reno Rodeo and Western lifestyle in Northern Nevada.
The final live storytelling event will feature stories from Mike Mentaberry, Mike Torvinen, George Combs and more. The event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. and features dinner, wine and beer in addition to a show with short documentary films, audio stories with sliders, and live storytellers.
“This is going to be the perfect bookend to the 100th-year celebration,” said Clint Wells, chair of the 100 Year Celebration committee. “The past two years have been full of incredible tales from years past that have evoked a sense of accomplishment, pride and an overwhelming sense of family that is truly remarkable.”
The Reno Rodeo 100 Years 100 Stories project is a community partnership between the Reno Rodeo Association and the Reno Rodeo Foundation produced by Jessi LeMay, creator of The Folk & The Lore and sponsored by Save Mart. Funding, in part, provided by the City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission with support from Nevada Historical Society.
