Sage Kimzey to Appear on Bleacher Report

By Tracy Renck

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rodeo and football are colliding in Miami.

Bull rider Sage Kimzey, the reigning six-time PRCA world champion, sat down with Super Bowl-winning receiver Danny Amendola for an installment titled “Breaking Boundaries” that will stream online at Bleacher Report, Feb. 5.

Kimzey and Amendola were brought together through Wrangler®. Tying together its rich heritage in rodeo, football and music around one of the most anticipated events of the year – Super Bowl LIV between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at 6:30 p.m. ET in Miami – Wrangler® announced Wednesday several activations leading up to the big game.

The synergies between world-class athletes and award-winning artists align with the brand’s global “Wear With Abandon” campaign, which exemplifies the opportunities that arise when cowboys of all types embrace adventure and extreme courage.

“From world-renowned cowboys to NFL legends and iconic rock stars, Wrangler has resonated with those at the top of their game for more than 70 years,” Tom Waldron, global brand president at Wrangler, said in a press release. “As hype builds for the biggest sporting event of the year, the week leading up to the Super Bowl provides the perfect opportunity to get into the spirit alongside some of today’s champion athletes and Grammy-recognized artists.”

Wrangler’s close ties with football spans decades, with past notable partnerships that include Super Bowl champions Brett Favre and Drew Brees. This year, the brand is working closely with NFL players Amendola and Rob Gronkowski, along with Kimzey, to bring cowboy cool to Miami.

After the Super Bowl, the brand will activate a content series in partnership with Bleacher Report titled “Breaking Boundaries.”

The first installment, “Comparing Scars,” features Kimzey and Amendola, who plays for the Detroit Lions. In the segment, the two swap stories about their craziest injuries and closest calls and discuss the thrill of competing at the championship events of their respective sports. “It’s cool to get an insight on how other sports work,” Kimzey told ProRodeo.com on Thursday. “There are definitely a lot of differences between rodeo and professional football, but there are definitely some similarities as well. Both are tough sports. This is a great thing to do because it will expose rodeo to a whole new audience for sure.”
