Sellars Wins Round 1 of Denver PBR Chute Out at the National Western Stock Show

DENVER – As Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s (PWVT) Denver PBR Chute Out at the National Western Stock Show concluded on Tuesday night, Clayton Sellars (Fruitland Park, Florida) remained victorious.
In a field of 90 riders split across two nights of competition for the opening round, Sellar’s Monday-night ride aboard Another Lunatic (Frihauf Cattle Co) clinched the Round 1 win.
With the highest ride-score of the entire two-day extended round at 89.5 points, the 23-year-old Floridian earned 7 world points for his efforts and heads into the third day of competition atop the leaderboard.

For Round 2 on Wednesday, the Top 30 riders from Round 1 will return to each face one bull. The 15 bull riders with the top combined ride scores following the first two rounds will advance to the final championship round on Wednesday night.
2012 PRCA World Champion Cody Teel (College Station, Texas) and Montana’s Jake Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) tied for second-place in the round with matching 88.5-point ride scores.
On Tuesday night, Teel was paired with Crystal Fox (Hart Cattle Company) and was in control from the moment the chutes flew open.
Lockwood had the Denver Coliseum crowd cheering Monday as he triumphed over Next Question (Nothin’ But Try Ranch/ Diggers Bucking Bulls).
For their efforts, Teel and Lockwood both collected 3.5 world points.
Two international standouts shared the hold on fourth place with matching 87.5-point ride scores.
Brazilian Marcelo Procopio Pereira (Rinopolis, Brazil) bested his bovine opponent Hat Trick (Hart Cattle Company), while Mexico’s Javier Garcia (Baja, Mexico) conquered Pan Am (Hart Cattle Co/ Hale).
In addition to punching their ticket to Round 2, both men earned 1.5 world points.
The Denver PBR Chute Out will continue at the National Western Stock Show on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. MST for Round 2 (RidePass on Pluto TV) immediately followed by the championship round.
