MULVANE, Kan. – On the eve of the 2020 Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping, cowboys were ready for battle.

The top 15 steer ropers in the world are vying for the coveted gold buckle at the Kansas Star Nov. 6-7 in Mulvane.

The 2020 NFSR will be streamed lived on the www.cowboychannelplus.com at 8:30 p.m. (ET) each day.

Cole Patterson is making his second-consecutive trip to Mulvane, and he comes in as the season leader with $54,598 in the 2020 PRCA | RAM World Standings. Patterson’s father, Rocky, a four-time world champion, enters in the No. 14 position in his 26th trip to the NFSR.

“I just want try and do my job like it is any ol’ rodeo any day of the week,” Cole said. “I know it’s now any ol’ rodeo, but you can’t change anything. You have to do the same thing day-in and day out. Just rope and tie down whatever you draw.”

Patterson earned $5,420 at the NFSR and finished 15th in the 2020 PRCA | RAM World Standings.

“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little bit shellshocked by actually being able to compete at the NFSR as a rookie last year. This year I feel good about things. My horses have been working well and the steers I think are going to be really good. I think it will be a good event to watch.”

Scott Snedecor, a four-time world champ (2005, 2008, 2017-18), is second in the standings with $53,210.

“I just go at it every year up here to have fun and win as much money as I can win,” Snedecor said. “I go at every one of them whether it is here or $500 rodeo. I really enjoy roping up here in Mulvane. The committee is great, and the hospitality is great, and the venue is a good set-up for steer roping.”

Vin Fisher Jr. ($49,797), reigning world champion Trevor Brazile ($48,387) and Landon McClaugherty ($46,463) round out the top five.

“The way we get treated up here in Mulvane feels like a world championship event,” said Fisher, who won the most money at the 2019 NFSR, earning $61,990. “I love competing here and I can’t wait to see what I can do this weekend.”
