TicketSmarter Morning Line – Okeechobee Round 2

By: Slade Long

One-third of the riders got a score in Round 1, but this event is still wide open. Most of the guys who did stay on yesterday did not draw particularly well here. We may see another 10 rides here, but the odds are that not many guys will be able to double up simply because they drew more difficult bulls today.

Cole Melancon on 584 Foghorn Leghorn:

The good draws keep coming for Melancon. This bull will probably go away from his hand, but Foghorn Leghorn has a very steady rhythm, and right-handed guys have won rounds on him before; four of the seven rides made on him have resulted in round wins. Melancon won the first round and has a legitimate shot at back-to-back wins with this bull.

Claudio Montanha Jr. on 22 Sam I Am:

Good bull here that can go both ways and can reverse the spin. Right-handed riders have done well against him in the past. Montanha bucked off in the first round but may get back on track here.

Brennon Eldred on 442 Blue Crush:

This is a good example of a guy who did great in Round 1 but didn’t draw well to follow it up. Blue Crush is not a bad bull to have if you are looking to win a round, but you need superhuman skills to stay on him. He hasn’t been ridden since August of 2019. He has a lot of action, and he’s fun to watch, but he’s been dunking on everyone in the game lately.

Cooper Davis on 87C Sun Country:

This bull has been ridden a lot by left-handed riders, but he’s been really strong against righties; he’s 18-1 against them. The way Davis is riding right now, he’s likely to beat the odds. He rode a much tougher bull away from his hand yesterday. Before the draw came out, there was a 23.3% chance that this round would be won by a guy whose name starts with C. That’s higher than any other letter in the alphabet.

Keyshawn Whitehorse on B87 Wicked Hou:

This is a good draw for Whitehorse. This bull is a little tough, but he’s rideable, and he’s usually a great matchup for right-handed riders. He likes to go to the right. He can drift around in the spin, but he backs up under himself just enough to help the rider stay forward.

Joao Ricardo Vieira on 621 Walks Far:

Vieira made the whistle in Round 1, but this bull is a tough one for him. Walks Far is not particularly strong or athletic, but he likes to go to the right and can move forward a lot, making him the enemy of most left-handed riders. If he switches things up and goes left, Vieira should have no problem with him.

Eduardo Aparecido on 54 Coy Dog:

Joao Henrique Lucas was 87 points on this bull in the first round, and Coy Dog is a great fit for Aparecido. He should go to the right, and Aparecido has made a career out of cashing in on bulls just like this.

Alex Cerqueira on 92T Buckin’ for Cash:

This bull threw Marco Eguchi off in Round 1, but Cooper Davis was 89 points on him in Arcadia to win a round, and Boudreaux Campbell was 90.75 points on him at the World Finals to clinch the event win. This is a really good bull with a lot of action, and if he goes to the left, it could mean a second straight score for Cerqueira.
