Top Bull Riders Return to “Daddy of ’em All” in 2021

By: Mandi McCary

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The world’s top bull riding athletes and rankest bucking bulls in the business will make their return to the premier celebration of cowboy life and Western entertainment, as the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) bucks back into Cheyenne, Wyoming for Last Cowboy Standing July 26-27.

For two nights, fans will experience one of the marquee stops on the PBR elite series tour as the Top-40 bull riders in the world attempt to conquer the sport’s rankest bulls on the historic Wyoming dirt.

The 2021 event is the second year of partnership that began in 2019 between the leading bull riding league and world’s largest outdoor rodeo. The entire 2020 Cheyenne Frontier Days event, including PBR, was canceled due to COVID-19 health restrictions in the state.

In 2019, fans attending PBR’s inaugural Last Cowboy Standing stop in Cheyenne saw some of the season’s best bull riding capped by an epic win for a fiery athlete from Arkansas. Chase Outlaw turned in a monster performance in 2019’s Round 2 – a remarkable 93.5-point ride aboard Smooth Wreck – which helped carry him into the final three rounds. Outlaw’s other qualified ride came in Round 4 when he rode Rising Sun for 90.5 points to advance on.

As the two nights of bull riding came to a close, Outlaw stood in the historic arena with tears streaming down his face, claiming the 2019 Last Cowboy Standing title.

Riders just like Outlaw from around the world will descend upon the “Daddy of ‘em all,” putting it all on the line to gain crucial PBR world points and a chance at climbing to the top of the 2021 world standings leaderboard.

Athletes expected to compete include reigning PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme, reigning Rookie of the Year Boudreaux Campbell, two-time World Champions J.B. Mauney and Jess Lockwood, 2018 World Champion Kaique Pacheco, 2016 World Champion Cooper Davis, 2020 Iron Cowboy winner Cole Melancon and many more.

The bull riding action begins at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, July 26, and 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27. Tickets for the two-day event go on sale Thursday, April 15, and range in price from $25 to $105. Fans can purchase tickets at www.cfdrodeo.com, at PBR.com or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.

The 10-day iconic Cheyenne Frontier Days festival features the world’s largest outdoor rodeo, concerts by top-name entertainers, dining, shopping, educational exhibits, Native American performances, a Western Art show, U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds performance, pancake breakfasts, parades and much more.

The health and safety of Cheyenne Frontier Days guests, volunteers, vendors, competitors and performers is a top priority, and as Frontier Park returns to hosting events, heightened sanitation, health, and safety protocols will be in place. With the team at Cheyenne Frontier Days, PBR will continue to create a safe and responsible environment for all fans in attendance. Health and safety protocols will be based on evolving standards, public health and governmental directives.

Guidelines and protocols in place during PBR’s Last Cowboy Standing will include:

• All areas of Frontier Park and Park-n-Ride will be routinely cleaned and sanitized.
• Mobile ticketing to replace traditional printed tickets.
• Increased reliance on cashless, contactless purchases throughout the park.
• Guests are encouraged to bring only necessary items into Frontier Park and must use a clear bag.
• Temperature testing and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) screening for all PBR staff and athletes.
• In addition to CDC screening, PBR staff and athletes will undergo medical testing for COVID-19 and wear masks.

Fans can upgrade their ticket purchase for either night by selecting the “Elite Experience” add-on for $75. This elevated experience includes a $10 concession voucher, a question and answer presentation with some of the top bull riders and stock contractors in the world and souvenir credential and lanyard.

For those looking for a spectacular view of the ultimate competition on dirt, a “Rooftop Seat” package is available for $150 per person. In addition to a one-of-a-kind vantage point on the rooftop of the new Cheyenne Frontier Days Administration building, fans will be treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages throughout the night.

Avid bull riding fans who are looking for an exclusive VIP experience while enjoying the world’s top bull riding circuit can purchase “PBR Elite Seats” for $305.
