Toves Picks Up First Event Win Of The Season In Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Going 2-for-2, Taylor Toves (Stephenville, Texas) picked up his first PBR victory of the season when he claimed the win at the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Lucas Oil Chute Out in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday night.

Toves covered both his bulls beginning with 86 points aboard Sharky (Cantankerous/Major League Bucking Bulls) before winning the championship round with 89 points on Joker (Deer Prairie Creek Bucking Bulls).

He earned 195 points towards the PBR world standings along with $7,450.

Every winner of a Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) event has an opportunity to compete at an Unleash The Beast series event, and with the victory in Jacksonville, Toves will go to Duluth, Georgia, for the U.S. Border Patrol Invitational on March 9-10 at Infinite Energy Arena.

Second place went to Mason Taylor (Maypearl, Texas) who also went 2-for-2. Taylor covered Time to Shine (Winston Bucking Bulls/Melton Bull Co.) for 85 points in the long round before taking Sumo (Deer Prairie Creek Bucking Bulls) to the whistle in the short round, earning 85.5 points.

He took home a paycheck of $5,300 along with 95 world points.

Third place went to Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas) who tallied 88 points aboard Clemmons Time (Richardson Land & Cattle Co.) in the first round before bucking off Ricochet (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle/Smith) in the championship round. He earned 105 world points and $3,300.

Thor Hoefer (Priest River, Idaho) was the fourth-place finisher after recording a ride on Barfly (Sustaire/Barrett Willis Bucking Stock, LLC) in the opening round for 85 points. He was unable to make the whistle on Mo (Barrett Buckin Bulls) in the championship round.

Hoefer earned 25 points towards the PBR world standings along with $1,850.

Cody Rodeo Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma) rounded out the Top 5 in the event, finishing in fifth place. He rode Crackerjack 84.5 points in the opening round on Saturday night.

With the finish, he earned 15 points towards the world standings along with $840.

A.J. (CBT 3/Tom & Peggy) was named the high-marked bull of the event after recording a 44-point score for his buckoff of Cristiano Figueredo (Sapucaia do Norte, Brazil).

The Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour is back in action on Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the Worcester Rumble in Worcester, Massachusetts.
