Unleash The Beast Returns to Wisconsin for PBR Milwaukee Invitational at Fiserv Forum March 11-12

By: Kacie Albert

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – For the second consecutive season, and third time in the sport’s history, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) elite Unleash The Beast will buck into Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, holding the PBR Milwaukee Invitational March 11-12.

For two nights only, more than 35 of the best bull riders in the world will go head-to-head against the sport’s rankest bovine athletes, showcasing the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness.

During the 2023 season, the PBR will celebrate its 30th anniversary since 20 cowboys broke away from the traditional rodeo with the belief that bull riding could be a standalone sport. Since their trailblazing initiative, the PBR has grown into a global phenomenon awarding nearly $300 million in prize money.

The upcoming PBR Milwaukee Invitational will mark the 15th event of the new individual season. Eventgoers will watch on as riders vie for crucial points in the race to be crowned the 2023 PBR World Champion.

When the PBR last bucked inside the home of the Milwaukee Bucks in Feb. 2022, Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) delivered a flawless 3-for-3 finish to win the tour stop and widen his then lead atop the world standings.

As the event got underway, Vieira first conquered Canadian-born Stunt Man Ray (Next Level Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points in Round 1. Positioned ninth on the event leaderboard, Vieira delivered his second qualified ride in Round 2 when he went the distance atop Sugar Boom Boom (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Circle G) for a round-best 89.5 points.

Compliments of the score, Vieira advanced to the championship round first in the event, earning the opening pick in the bull draft, which he used to select Outlaw (Cord McCoy/Big Sky Bulls, LLC). In a decision which proved dividends, Vieira reached the whistle for 88.75 points to clinch the event win.

Looking down the leaderboard, Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) went 2-for-3 to finish fifth. The fifth-place effort was his third of 11 Top 10 finishes en route to being crowned the 2022 PBR World Champion.

Clinching the title by winning the prestigious PBR World Finals, Swearingen went a torrid 26-for-60, covering 43.33% of his animal athlete opponents during his 2022 gold buckle campaign.

Swearingen earned $1,697,481.63, including $1,394,000 for his career-first PBR World Championship and World Finals event win. Swearingen, 23, is now 17th in all-time money earned in PBR competition with his career earnings topping more than $2.21 million.

Other past PBR Milwaukee Invitational event winners include: Kaique Pacheco (2018 – Itatiba, Brazil) and Paulo Ferreira Lima (2016 – Bezerros, Brazil).

The bull riding action for the PBR Milwaukee Invitational begins with Round 1 at 6:45 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 11, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 1:45 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 12. All competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Rounds 1-2. Following Round 2 Sunday afternoon, the riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled with the Top 12 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
