Updated PBR Team Series Rosters Ahead of Cheyenne

By: Justin Felisko

PUEBLO, Colo. – The 2022 PBR Team Series begins with its season-opener on July 25-26 at Cheyenne Frontier Days (10 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network).

On Monday afternoon, the eight PBR Teams submitted their initial rosters for Cheyenne. Every team will have seven protected roster spots during the season and an additional five practice squad spots to use as they see fit. Meanwhile, teams also have two injured reserve spots for riders unable to compete.

Being on a team’s protected roster means another team cannot sign a rider during the current season unless that rider is released or traded.

The below rosters are subject to change based on free-agent signings, injuries and roster cuts.

Note: a team can also decide to sign a player off an opposing team’s practice squad if it will be signing that rider to its protected roster.

Arizona Ridge Riders:

Luciano De Castro (Protected)

Updates: Injuries to Moreira (reconstructive hip surgery) and Dougherty (broken kneecap) opened up the opportunity for the Ridge Riders to add 2019 Velocity Tour champion Alisson de Souza and 2018 Rookie of the Year Keyshawn Whitehorse to their protected roster this summer. Moreira and Dougherty are expected to be out for most of the regular season, so Arizona will not be forced to make a roster move for the time being.

Therefore, Kansas City has only five healthy riders on its active roster. Of course, they could turn to their practice squad for some depth, but they also will have the ability to sign a rider off another team’s practice squad if they so choose.

The Outlaws also officially placed Kyler Oliver on IR on Sunday as he continues his recovery from a broken neck.
