Xtreme Broncs Tour Finale on Tap Aug. 27

The best ProRodeo saddle bronc riders in the world will converge at the second annual Xtreme Broncs Tour Finale in Rapid City, S.D., Aug. 27.

The top 12 saddle bronc riders in the PRCA | RAM World Standings and the top 12 in the Xtreme Broncs standings will compete in the Finale for the Xtreme Broncs title.

The format consists of a long-go, with the top eight advancing to the final round.

“I’m going to continue doing what I have been doing all year,” said Wyatt Casper, who leads the world standings. “Right now, I’m just out here having fun and loving riding these bucking horses every week.”

The draw for the first round of the Range Days Rodeo Xtreme Broncs Finale will air live on The Cowboy Channel at 7:30 p.m. (ET) Thursday and will stream live on the PRCA on Cowboy Channel Plus App.

The Xtreme Broncs Finale will air and stream live on The Cowboy Channel and the PRCA on Cowboy Channel Plus App at 9 p.m.

As of Aug. 24, Casper led the world standings with $143,643. He has a $63,956 lead over second-place Ryder Wright.

“It’s a lot easier whenever you’re not worried about making money out there,” said Casper, who is searching for his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo berth. “You just go out there, have fun and do the best you can on every horse, and the chips will fall where they will fall.”

Wade Sundell, the 2018 saddle bronc riding world champ, and Brody Cress, the 2019 reserve world champ, split the inaugural Xtreme Broncs Tour Finale title in Rapid City last year.

Sundell and Cress each notched 178 points on two head. Sundell earned $10,599, while Cress walked away with $12,315.

Stetson Wright, the reigning PRCA all-around world champion, is ready to take advantage of a great opportunity to move up in the standings after the Xtreme Broncs Tour Finale.

“I didn’t get to compete in this X Broncs Finale last year because I was hurt,” Wright said. “I broke my jaw during a (bull) ride at the Dodge City (Kan.) Roundup Rodeo (on July 31).”

Wright will get on Bar T Rodeo’s Son of Sadie, a National Finals Rodeo horse, today at the Golden Spike PRCA Bronc Riding Classic in Tremonton, Utah. On Aug. 29, at the Range Days Rodeo in Rapid City, Wright gets on another NFR horse, Burch Rodeo’s Maria Bartiromo.

Wright was 20th in both the saddle bronc riding and bull riding world standings on Aug. 24 with $28,456 and $37,312, respectively.

“I know I should probably be worried because I’m on the outside looking in (for the NFR), but I’m not,” he said. “I’ve been drawing good, and lately I have been doing a lot better on capitalizing on moments. It has been hit and miss with me this year, and it has really bugged me. I ride better when I get on a lot, and I have been getting on a lot more and have been riding way better. The bulls I drew this week are outstanding. I want to do my job and let the rest take care of itself.”
