#InCaseYouMissedIt: Lucas Oil Invitational

By: Darci Miller

With no fans in the arena and strict safety guidelines in place, the PBR concluded a three-event stay at the Lazy E Arena in Oklahoma this weekend. Lucas Divino gave the top dogs a run for their money, Smooth Over dropped a few jaws, and what’s this about a new team-style event debuting in June? If you missed a moment of the action this weekend, here’s what happened around the PBR.

On the Unleash The Beast…

Lucas Divino might be fighting through his second hand injury of the 2020 season, but that didn’t slow him down at the PBR Lucas Oil Invitational, presented by U.S. Border Patrol.

Divino went 3-for-3 to win his second event of the season, leaping to No. 7 in the world standings.

The bull pen showed up in a big way as well, with Smooth Over recording a massive 47.5-point bull score – the first bull score that high in two years.

The bulls held the riders to just six qualified rides in Round 1, but Mason Taylor was able to win the round with 88.75 points on Hell on the Red.

Amadeu Campos was the only rookie with a qualified ride in Round 1, inserting himself into the Rookie of the Year conversation.

World No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme was absent on championship Sunday after he bruised his ribs during his Round 1 buckoff.

The action won’t stop now that the Lazy E Arena slate of events has come to an end. The PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge will run from June 5-July 12 and will debut a brand new team competition.

The Monster Energy Team Challenge will culminate with a Championship Weekend in Sioux Falls, South Dakota – with fans in attendance – and South Dakota resident Matt Triplett is excited, to say the least.
