Ticketsmarter Morning Line – Little Rock Round 2

By: Slade Long

In the first round, quite a few bulls had out-of-line trips with poor timing. It really looked like a lot of bulls were off their game or the dirt wasn’t great. The riders paid the price with only nine guys making the whistle. The Round 2 bulls are a little stronger as a group and, if we see the same kind of timing issues tonight, could be worse for the riders.

Colten Jesse on 506 Just Another Gangster:

This bull threw off Jose Vitor Leme and Dener Barbosa last year. He doesn’t have a long history, but he was ridden for the first time in seven career outs just last month at the San Angelo, Texas, rodeo. Jesse was rock solid last night, and with Vieira gone to Dallas he’s the event leader now. Another score here would be a huge win for him. This matchup is a push, but Jesse has a lot to gain and should be motivated.

Eduardo Aparecido on -508 Rocky:

This bull is a really good fit for Aparecido. Rocky tends to have good timing, and he should go to the right. Aparecido didn’t get a Round 1 score, but with only nine rides last night and two of those guys not coming back today, this event is still wide open.

Aaron Kleier on 391 Slingin’ Tears:

This is a great draw for a lefty. Slingin’ Tears is not easy, but he’s a top-tier long round bull, and can deliver a round win. He’s 8-5 against left-handed riders, and for the kind of scores he produces, that’s pretty rider-friendly.

Ezekiel Mitchell on 23 Shownuff:

Mitchell bucked off this bull at the World Finals. Shownuff is the favorite in this matchup because he’ll probably go away from Mitchell’s hand, but he’s also a good bull to have. He’s fair and rideable, and has been ridden by right- and left-handed riders. He’s usually one of the best bulls in any long round.

Marco Eguchi on C7 Let’s Gamble:

Cole Melancon was 90 on this bull at the Denver Velocity event. Eguchi bucked off in Round 1, but this bull is tailor-made for him. Eguchi has a lot of big rides in his career against bulls that go strong into his hand, just like this one.

Ramon de Lima on 314 Rocket Man:

Lima looked good in Round 1, and he’s in great shape to go for the event win here, but this bull will be a test. Rocket Man bucks like a world champion-caliber bull with a weak battery. He has power and kick, but he tends to hesitate on the kick and lurch into the next jump. Bulls tend to be rideable because they have timing, and this one does not have good timing. This herky-jerky style can get any rider on the ground, and Rocket Man has an impressive resume of victims.

Joao Henrique Lucas on 51 Viper:

Lucas had a fantastic first-round draw, but he will have to find some grit to get by this bull. Viper can be a first-class eliminator like Rocket Man, but with a different style. He can get way up in the air and roll on the way down. He can sometimes have a normal trip where he just spins to the left, and that is what Lucas will have to hope for. Otherwise the bull is a huge favorite here.

Brady Sims on -400 Oz:

Oz originally came out of Canada, and he may be the best draw for a left-handed rider in this round. He’s a quality bull with a 75% career buckoff percentage, but he’s 5-6 against lefties. Sims had a good draw in Round 1 as well, but didn’t close the deal.

Dener Barbosa on 48 Ol’ Boy:

This is a great bull who will test any rider, but he may be a good fit for Barbosa. He tends to go to the left, and he’s strong and intense. If Barbosa can hang with him, there could be a round win in it for him.
