Big Buckers Conquer Tucson Mud

A 19-year-old bareback rider from northern Arizona will be vying for a Tucson Rodeo championship today after a rousing ride on Saturday for 83.5 points sending Evan Betony to the finals in this just his second season as a pro. He will surely be spurring with full support from the Navajo Nation. Also on Saturday 2009 world champion saddle bronc rider Jesse Kruse from Great Falls, Montana earned a finals bid and $3,000 for an 84-point tilt on a one-eyed horse called ‘Bling.’ Kruse travels with fellow Montanan rookie bronc rider Sage Newman who wisely seeks advice from his mentor on a regular basis. Both Saturday winning round bucking horses were brought down to southern Arizona from Wyoming by Rocky Mountain Rodeo’s Glen Southwick. Courtesy of Wrangler Network contributor Charlie Coon.
