PRCA for the Record: Arcadia

The Sunshine State offers a glowing opportunity for ProRodeo athletes to strike gold at the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo, but only the best leave their mark in the rodeo’s record book.

Although 2020 marks the 92nd Arcadia rodeo, this iconic southeastern rodeo has attracted some of ProRodeo’s biggest names since 1973.

Last year was one for the record book as Arcadia boasted its biggest payout, $118,266, and team ropers Jacob Dagenhart and Zack Mabry stopped the clock in 4.8 seconds to top the 2015 record time of 4.9 seconds, set by Clint Summers and Brad Culpepper.

Dagenhart and Mabry took that momentum to the top of the 2019 Southeastern Circuit standings for team roping heading and heeling, qualifying them for the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo in Kissimmee, Fla., April 2-4.

Mabry celebrated his 28th birthday when he and Dagenhart collected $2,838 for their Arcadia win. The Alabama cowboy has held steady since making his ProRodeo debut in 2015 with 2019 marking his best season to date with $19,477.

Dagenhart, now 27, also began his ProRodeo career in 2015 with 2017 as his best season, earning $20,893. He finished the 2019 season with $18,423.

The duo won or split the win at six ProRodeo competitions in 2019, collecting wins at the Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo in Bonifay; Stampede at the Ike in West Monroe, La.; the Wide Open Rodeo in Fort Pierce, Fla., and Arcadia. They split the win at the Georgia National Rodeo in Perry and the Feb. 23-24 Weekley Brothers Davie (Fla.) Pro Rodeo.

Cowboys have from March 12-15 to top Dagenhart and Mabry’s Arcadia record, and the rest, while claiming their share of the 2020 prize money.
