Tough Enough to Wear Pink
The Wrangler® Tough Enough to Wear Pink™ Western Campaign to raise money and awareness for breast cancer tops the $17 million mark in money raised Las Vegas, Nevada, (Dec. 9, 2013). Wrangler® Tough Enough to Wear Pink™ Founder Terry Wheatley announced Monday night of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (Wrangler NFR) in Las Vegas, the grassroots cowboy campaign to fight breast cancer has reached the $17 million fundraising mark through the hard work of regional rodeos and western events across the country. The monies raised stay locally to benefit community breast cancer charities – which is the strength of the campaign’s success according to Wheatley. “This is the ninth anniversary of Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink at the Wrangler NFR and the campaign continues to gain momentum. Nobody could have imagined that together we would raise millions of dollars for the cause,” said Terry Wheatley. A breast cancer survivor herself, Wheatley is an entrepreneur, wife and mother to professional rodeo competitors. She founded Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink in 2004 with Karl Stressman, former director of special events for Wrangler and now commissioner of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PCRA). Wrangler has been involved since the beginning and... Continue...

Round 4 Video Highlights: 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo
Jake Wright is gaining ground quickly as he tries to stake a claim as the best saddle bronc rider in his renowned family. And, by the way, that would make him the best in the world. Wright won Round 4 Sunday at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in front of 17,425 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center. It was his second victory of the rodeo, which has bumped him from seventh to second in the world standings. Interestingly, he’s traded places with his twin brother, Jesse – who entered the WNFR in second place, but has fallen to seventh. Leading the world standings is the elder Wright brother, two-time World Champion Cody, who took the title in 2008 and 2010. Jesse Wright is the defending world champ, but Jake has never reached the top of the world standings. He’s close now, trailing Cody by just $9,659. “A lot can happen here and there’s a lot of money to be won each night,” Jake Wright said. “I’m just happy to be here at the NFR, and I’m going to come out the next six nights and pretend like I’m in 15th place and spur like a mad man.” Jake Wright... Round 3 Video Highlights: 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo
Cody Ohl rebounded from an aggressive mistake with a record-setting run in the third round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and hopes that momentum carries through his final seven days of the sport’s Super Bowl. Ohl broke the barrier in round two – incurring a 10-second penalty that kept him from placing third – but responded with a 6.7-second run Saturday before 17,694 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center. That gave him a huge shot of confidence. “It really gives me a lot,” Ohl said. “Today, I was kind of down on myself and kicked myself a little bit, and this is exactly what I need for the last seven rounds. I need to feed off of this and get everything back rolling. I spotted them a little bit breaking that barrier last night, so now I have to start getting some of that back.” The win didn’t come easily for Ohl, as red-hot Shane Hanchey tied his Round 3 record of 6.9 seconds – which Ohl previously shared with Tuf Cooper – to take the early lead. Ohl trumped it a short time later, as has been his habit on the third night of the Finals.... Continue...

Bobby Mote Talks Rodeo Memories and the 2013 Wrangler NFR
Bobby Mote shares his pre-competition rituals and the memory of his first world championship bareback title. Q: Tell us about your first bareback experience. First time I got on a horse I was 15. I went out to a local practice pen where you could get on a horse for $8. I got on my first bareback horse there and the rest is history. Q: Tell us about your first world champion win. 2002 was the first year I won a world championship. I had to win the 10th round to win the world. I ended up coming back with a great horse called Ally Mays who was the bareback horse of the year that year. That night I won the round and the world championship. Q: Who was your idol growing up? My rodeo idol as I was coming up through my career was Clint Corey. He was the 1991 World Champion Bareback Rider. Q: Do you have any pre-competition rituals? I like to get to the arena about two hours before the round, get my equipment out and make sure everything is the way it should be. I start warming up and loosing up then I relax and... Continue...
