Fun Facts about Maverick: He nearly doubled his career earnings during the regular season this year and will likely do that during the WNFR. Maverick can’t really remember a time when he didn’t want to compete in rodeos. That led to time in the arena testing out calves to see if they would be future buckers in the family operation. During one of those rides, he shattered his ankle but couldn’t wait to get on and do it again. That passion and athleticism enhanced by high school wrestling and basketball has led to his first WNFR qualification where he will begin in 7th place. He’s invested his money in the bucking bull business and that has kept him busy and involved in rodeo when he’s been home. While
Texas is known for rodeo contestants, it is believed that Maverick is the first from Waxahachie to qualify for rodeo’s championships and nod his head in the famed yellow bucking chutes of the Thomas and Mack Arena.
