Fun Facts about Jesse: This is the second time that Jesse Brown has started the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in second place. The first was in 2021 where he finished sixth. Last year he started in 11th place and finished in fifth. In high school, Jesse was a standout football and basketball player. He started his college career playing football at Washington State University. His family came from ranching and rodeo backgrounds, so it was likely no surprise when he wanted to try steer wrestling. He found success early on winning the Permit Challenge, held for rising stars, at the South Point Arena in 2016. The next year he earned the Rookie of the Year title and has continued his climb since then. He won the Governor’s Cup Rodeo the final week of the season and wasn’t sure he was going to be able to go. Prior to competing there, he had a wreck in Pendleton, Oregon, and had a torn MCL. His decision to compete earned him $25,000 and moved him up one spot in the standings. After that win, he’s spending time in the gym and rehabbing his knee.
