Lane Ivy

Lane Ivy – Dublin, Texas ($67,458)
First-time WNFR qualifier

When Lane Ivy started roping with Buddy Hawkins II in 2018, the duo had a game plan – to rope every steer that they had whether it was for money or not.

Now, because of that plan, they will have the chance to rope 10 steers for a lot of money. Ivy qualified for his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in 14th place with $67,458 in regular season earnings.

It’s been the goal of a lifetime for Lane who joined the PRCA six years ago. Last year he finished the season in 20th earning $57,576.

This year, he got off to a good start and had over $13,000 won in the first two months of the season. Then he dropped out of the top 20. He climbed his way back in during the final two weeks. He was 15th on September 17th. The last two weeks of the season he earned $5,782 to have him Vegas bound in December.

It was a bit of an early birthday present for Lane who turned 26 on Oct. 2nd, just two days after the regular season was over. Lane has also roped a lot this year with Blaine Vick who also lives at Dublin. They won the Farm City ProRodeo in Hermiston, Oregon in August. Blaine finished the season in 23rd.

When Lane isn’t riding horses and roping steers, he enjoys hunting. He acts as a guide in the fall and especially likes to hunt mule deer and mountain lions.

Lane’s parents, Billy and Joanie Ivy, own a painting company and insurance agency. They are going to need to set their business to the side for 10 nights in Vegas watching their oldest son achieve his dreams of competing at the NFR.
