Fun Facts about Jonathan: After competing at last year’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Jonathan was more than ready to get back. Last year, he roped most of the season with his brother Joshua, who did not qualify for the NFR. He roped with Lightning Aguilera in San Antonio, they won that rodeo and both qualified for the NFR without their partners. So, they roped together in Las Vegas. He teamed up with Lightning a little this year, but his main partner was Coy Rahlmann. They won Salinas, Walla Walla and finished second at Pendleton. Joshua and Jonathan won Pendleton a year ago to seal Jonathan’s first qualification. Jonathan also became an uncle last year when Joshua’s wife gave birth to their daughter Jayla, so he’s been taking care of things at home. The brothers truly support each other in everything they do and even when they aren’t partners in the roping pen, they are partners in business and life. They started roping in parking lots in Florida when they were young. Their father was a ranch manager, and they grew up wanting to be cowboys. The whole family has supported each other through thick and thin and now will be watching as Jonathan ropes behind Nelson Wyatt at this year’s NFR.
